Personal rant...

I am a sales rep at a corporate VZW store. Yesterday I had a customer come in with an LG-vx8300 and was upset that she couldn't print off her pictures at Walgreens. She had a memory card that Walgreens, Target, and Walmart all said had no pictures on it or was defective. She visited a VZW store to inquire about her card not working. The CSR "reformatted" the card and told her it would work. It didn't. She visited another store and explained her story to the tech, whom in turn decided the card was defective and swapped out her memory card. Still didn't work. The customer then visited my store, very much upset that our pictures are not in a format that could be printed. When she bought the phone, the sales rep assu...

I know what you mean. I had an infuriated caller that lived in CA but was vacationing in HI and couldn't make/receive any calls. After several talks with (tier 2) tech support, I got the callback. Issue was resolved by a basic step of changing the system select from "home only" to "automatic"

The story leads me to believe that neither of the first two reps considered the possibility of user error (which is part of basic troubleshooting). On the other hand, it would be nice if everyone tended to read the user manual(be it phone or anything else).

Is this Verizon's fault our the frikkin idiot customer's fault? You get to guess. I'll tell you the answer later.

HINT: Tivo doesn't get a bad reputation if a customer can't get a show to download.

Gotta be careful about that one...

If I had to call Tivo 3 times to get an answer, it would not do much for the reputation of the company.

People have different levels of technical skill and the expectation that all people are able to wrap themselves around all that a cell phone can do is expecting more than you should.

For instance, when I take a picture with a digi camera, it loads to the card automatically. I'm sure this customer thought the same for the phone, in that it worked t...

Admittedly this issue could be easily fixed by vzw if they'd allow for everything to be save to a memory card that way when a phone goes bad the cust can just put that in another phone, including ringtones and games. But they're afraid they would lose too much money.

I do not believe a customer's ignorance or stupidity warrants a bad reputation for the company.

Maybe I'm just and observer but I haven't ever noted a bad reputation with VZW. Sure, I like VZW and am a phone geek but, that said, I've seen this claimed by you in other threads.

In terms of customer service, I seem to remember that VZW and T-Mo have been neck and neck for a while now.

So, I find your claim to be ringing hollow.

Oh, Please. Yes, ATT/Cingular/att does have bluetooth enabled on all of their phones. If the customer wasn't smart enough to move the pictures to her card, do you REALLY think she would be smart enough to connect to Walgreen's via bluetooth? In my experience, here is the average customers knowledge regarding bluetooth...

Customer: This phone says it has bluetooth, what is that?

Me: Bluetooth is a technology that enables you to connect wirelessly to another device, i.e. a wireless headset, computer, or another phone.

Customer: Oh, you mean those Star Trek lookin things that make people look like they are talking to themselves?

Me: (hanging head sadly) Yes. That's exactly right.

Close curtain, exit stage left.

I don't understand why people feel the need to go to the different forums and slam other carriers. Each person has chosen their carrier based upon their personal needs and preferences. I'm sure there are things about each of carriers that we do not like, but accept because of our needs.

I was always told that people would slam and try to belittle other people because of jealousy. I can't understand why that would be because you chose your current carrier. I then must assume that it is employees of other companies trying to lure away customers. I don't think that happens by trashing the other carriers and taunting people. To me that just makes me assume your carrier is weak and employs low paid immature people. Further, because of...
