AvgJoe

Lets consider GSM and Verizon networks equal in coverage quality and even Customer service...

Who do you choose and why?

Bring all of it. This will be fun to read.

I would choose Verizon because the only person I know that doesn't have Verizon is my brother. If I went with any other company, I would be spending a lot more money.

thats great . I have had many drops on ATT. But redial is alive and well and the feature list as well as the "hands off" policy of theCarrier keeps me there.

I would rather use redial then a Verizon GUI overlay and feature crippling, and having to buy Verizon Navigator to use (friggin tower based GPS at that!!) on all Verizon mucked up releases. Wheres the real GPS on the blackberrys?
The V3m is terrible.

NAh a few dropped calls now and then are a very small price to pay ...

I am not going to go through them all buy price and features just to answer your question. I would not leave alltel as they give me the best price with mycircle, and data.

The choices were any GSM (Since they all operate the same) and Verizon.

Sprint has better deals and uncrippled phones than Verizon as does Alltel. I asked for a choice between ATT/Tmobile and Specifically Verizon.

I gave you facts. I don't like att. I don't like how they do business. Never have. I don't like verizon either. They are both too big and from the Ma Bell era. But verizon is a tad better. You didn't give me much to work with.

Boyz - Let me shut it down for all.

Verizon has the best reception - This is why i stay ( I side with the guy that said that he has not dropped 1 (one) call) Verizon we all lov u 4 that - but the Cost to be the boss is out - Fu*king ragious.

Alltel has one of the Best plans (cost wise) Slightly makes u wanna Switch ( they did just get the HTC Touch)

ATT - Has the best phones hands down - and its looking as if all the new - hot- iphone clones are all falling in the hands of ATT -- Sorry Its just the facts

I have heard that people want to take death contracts out on the workers and rules/regulations of SPRINT - Everybody i have asked said they just suck -- Good phones

Lets not even talk about T-mobile - They just got ...

I think people are missing the point and it IS in fact an interesting question.

The question is:
IF we lived in a cellular utopia world where the following was the case:

1) all carriers had the exact same coverage in all areas.

2) all carriers had the exact same customer service levels.

Which carrier would you go with?

I'll even go one step further and not consider my employee account for price (would be a little unfair)

So i'd have to look at phones and price. But by price i'm not going to look at just plan prices. I'd have to look at who I talk to and how much.

90% of the people i talk to are vzw customers. but i do have a couple of friends on at&t, and t mobile.

So price wise VZW is still a better choice...

An escape from reality is nice once in a while......... I would choose at&t, for the simple fact of phone selection. It seems to me that gsm carriers receive newer models faster than cdma. I also like the fact that all I would have to do is swap my sim from one phone to another if I wanted to switch up from time to time.

Says who? Sort of depends on where you live and what features are important. ya think? And if they are not already they soon will be as GSM moves to 4G and Verizon does the same abandoning EV-DO.

They both have their good and bad points. The best thing to do is try them for 30 days, and see what works better for you.

I know, I know, if you have consistent usage on your phones, you won't need rollover, but between my wife and I, we talk anywhere between 600 and 1300 minutes a month. luckily, I have an old F&F plan with Sprint, so I don't have a ton of overages, but it would still be a boon to have rollover. for me. networks being equal.

Many will say Roll Over is a Gimmick, But in reality it giving you a year to use any minutes you paid for and did not use in the current month to use.

I am not a big phone user. We are on a 2 phone plan with550 shared minutes. After a few years we have consistently 2000 roll over minutes and we are already on the lowest usage plan.

We never have to worry about counting minutes. especially during higher use months when a family member may be ill or any other reason daytime usage jumps in a particular month.

We have months where we go way over 550 minutes and months when we barely use 100 minutes. THATS's the beauty of Roll Over

Again...... Freedom and flexibility the way GSM was meant to be and all Carriers should be.

Yeah we...

GSM has nothing to do with "rollover" minutes.

Man, you're stuck in that rut. Maybe you should get outside and get some sunshine.

I did not say it did. I DID say it was far more flexible and offers more freedom of choice in all areas that matter. Roll Over is ATT only. T MObile has lower rates so it evens out according to personal need. See THATS the freedom and flexibility you just don't get with Verizon......However you never drop a call....Thats good....I guess. Pay for whats important to you.
