Hey random question. The rebate pad ends on the 18th.
the rumor i heard was that verizon is doing away with the mail in rebate program.
anyone else hear that
...
They might go like US Cell and do a Mail In Rebate for a $50 visa card instead of mailing a check out. But I haven't heard anything.
...
that would suck out loud!!!!! The rumor i hear and i hope it is tru is instant rebate!!!! That i would love
...
att already does this.. rebate are sent in a form of visa credit card where you could use any where instead of ..waiting to cash it in a bank like vzw.
...
haven't heard that rumor yet...but if what others are saying is true (instant rebates) any idea how that would work for the indirect market? and on another note, i can't imagine why they would phase these out, they rely on people not sending them in, thereby making/keeping the money. besides i'd think they would want to keep them exclusive to the online channel, lord knows they've been trying everything to boost online sales (ie the voyager inventory issue, undercutting stores by price significantly, having underpaid online consultants chat with prospective customers, you get the drift)...but whatever the reason i still wonder how this will affect the indirects (aka me)
...
we arent going ot do any instant rebates. and we arent makeing you take a visa card or vzw gift card we will continue to mail checks that can be cashed. sorry guys 😕
...
were not doing away with the rebate program, we are enhansing it. you will be able to chekc the status and everything online. however you will not be able to initially submit the rebate online. you will be able to start the process wiht that is called pre-submitting your rebate... all that means is that you are giving them all the info on the computer, then mailing in the hard proof.
...
umm...that isn't anything new, they've been doing pre-submitting for quite a while, since june '07 at least
...
the latest thing i heard was that the processing would be faster. somewhere in the 3 week time frame
...
The rebate process has been simpler for quite sometime. There are states that currently do instant rebates such as CT, RI and NJ on advertised handsets. Instant vs. mail in rebates vs the "internet instant rebates" are dictated by state legal requirements. Unless the legality has changed or the structre of how the "rebate" applies, I'm not sure how rebates could be avoided completely, but any improvement is always welcome. Additionally, most customer's already receive their rebates within 4 weeks unless they don't provide all required docs.
...
i dream of instant rebates, it would make the upfront cost better thus making my life in the store easier
...
that dream will kill many indirects, as we can reign in the losses by mail-in rebates. without them, a "free" phone would be limited quite a bit, least with us. our commission tiers don't allow us to give instant rebates ever currently; unless the manufacturers got on board and lowered their costs across the board by $50, that would make for some horrid cost differentials for many people.
...
Well obviously that would have to happen. I'm sure cost would drop or there would be a spiff on all activations to make up for the instant rebate.

I believe I heard the same thing. But no clue if it will really happen.
