Switched to AT&T after 7 years as a Verizon customer:

I have never thought that I would be leaving Verizon and moving to another company while I am living in New York, but I was quite disappointed with the phones from VZ and just tried AT&T's black berry curve, I have to admit that this is the best phone I have ever have ( keep in mind I have used other PDAs including HTC 6700), but the service of AT&T has improved significantly and quality of the sound is much better. The best thing I like about the phone is battery life, plus I would be using this phone for all over the world.

Good bye Verizon.

PS: I am not a AT&T sales rap, you can see my posts in this forum, I have always post in Verizon's phone section.

The point of this post is to tell people that Verizon is not the only carrier that work everywhere but others have made significant progress over the years and AT&T is almost similar to Verizon but has lot of other advantages.

The best thing I like is GSM, the battery life is great, I dont have to use my car charger at all and can use it all day, the EDGE network is faster than EVDO, I can use other phones and use my same sim card, the black berry curve work all over the world. I dont have to go to the calling centers to make phone calls while I am traveling.

Again, I just want to tell people yes there is life after Verizon!!

LOL, now know you are talking out of your ass.

lets see edge is what 120-150Kbps (sorry i dont know exactly) and EVDO REV A is 700 Kbps-1.8 Mbits with burst higher than that.

Too funny

...not to mention the fact that battery life on GSM phones is WORSE. I know this for a fact because I can turn the Direct Connect portion of my Powersource phone completely off, and the battery lasts TWICE as long. Time based cellular networks hav...

This is due to the fact that they use the BB server. I invite you to try one BB Curve's internet. You'll see she's not lying. This is why I think that RIM hasn't rushed to release a 3G BB, yet.

Yeah right. My company gave me a pda that only has EDGE capability. I miss VZW's high speed EVDO so much - EDGE IS IN NO WAY FASTER THAT EVDO AT ALL.

If you really think that's true, then you really have no idea what you're talking about.

some is. In some areas cable is offering 5mbs and dsl is at 7.5. Now dsl will never beet cables fastest in the country but will beet some of the cable offerings in some areas. So don't say that statement in general as its not true in all cases.

Whats the big deal with the speed anyway? I guess it really doesn't matter to me as much as some people. EVDO is nice... I agree, but what can be done on a phone where speed is that critical?

I have a laptop for speed, etc.

He probably was shooting down the theory of some loyalists in this room that say AT&T is no good, that you never get a signal, never be able to make calls, and all that. Wrong forum but it goes to show that if you buy into the marketing of these companies you might miss out on something that works better for you. Looks like he found it over at AT&T.

I'd agree, ATT doesn't suck EVERYWHERE. Just a lot of the places I've been. 👀

Law of averages says they have to be good somewhere. Even Sprint, who's apparently self-destructing right now, is good some places.

Haven't used 'em much personally (except roaming a couple of times in Oregon, where they worked well for me), but the few ppl I've met who were on it (mostly Chicago area) said they liked it.

Their churn rate is okay, definitely not in 'Sprint armageddon' territory. Always good to check that. 😲

They do well in the JD Power call quality surveys for the North Central region. If you live in the upper Midwest, apparently they are one of the better choices.

Probably the worst since Herbert Hoover, and that's sayin' something. That was almost 80 years ago. 😳

The general level of corruption, cronysim and incompetence is pretty amazing. Even my dad, who's a diehard Reagan Republican who voted for Bush twice, now curses both him and Cheney out on a regular basis whenever they come on the news. He's not voting Republican in the next election.

My mom hates him less, but she's one of those super-Christian ppl who believes anything Pat Robertson says. But even she doubts him now.

I think the Republican party is going to crash and burn even harder in the '08 elec...

OK, sorry. I'm considering switching from Verizon to US Cellular because they have the W385 with the true Motorola software and SmartKeys on the outside that enable the ring style to be changed without opening the flip. I am sick of Verizon ruining great phones with their stupid UI.

Hey Wireless Buddy,
this is somewhat off the current topic, but other than the extra apps available for Windows Mobile, what are the benefits that you see of having it?

I was given a T-Mobile Dash with WM6 on it from my company and the thing is so slow and has a tendency to crash. I've asked my employer if I can get the BB Curve and they are going to see if they can do it. But basically, I was excited to get to use WM6, but after using it, I'm feeling kinda disappointed. What are your thoughts? Since I just got the Dash, I haven't actually used many third party apps (only Jogger - which turns the volume slider into a scroll wheel).

Thanks!

So, I have a couple of thoughts:

First, I wonder why folks will come to tell the world they are leaving someting such as a cellular carrier. If I decided that I was going to stop buying Grand Cherokees as my vehicle, I don't know that I would go to an automotive forum for Chrysler and go "I've decided that I want to go to a Toyota LandCruiser. I just found that the drivers side heated seats are better and the radio placement is more to my liking...and besides, Toyota sales reps are way cooler than the Jeep guys. So to all you Jeep fanboys..see ya" Really sounds kinda stupid, doesn't it? So, I just don't get the 'I'm leaving' post. If you going, just go. I do hope your experience is good with the new carrier. However, I just ask tha...
