Blackberry Pearl Questions

Hello All,

I am seriously considering the pearl. It would be my first smartphone and I have a few questions:

1) I know backup assistant wouldnt work but is there a way to get the contacts off my phone and into the pearl?

2) If you have multiple email accounts, do they all show up in one inbox, under "messages", or would you have multiple inboxes?

3) Can the pearl open PDF attachments in addition to MS word and excel?

4) Using BIS, would your POP mail sync with outlook, or would it be similar to using "mobile email" on a "dumbphone", meaning that for example, if I send an email from my blackberry, would it show up in my sent mail in outlook?

Thanks for you help!

Mark

1) yes you can do a phone to phone transfer.
2) from my knowledge, you can have up to 10 email accounts. All of which will show up in the message application on the device. I believe there is a different symbol for each (each email account/txt message) not sure if you can do seperate applications for each.
3)it has an attachment reader ( you can also get 3rd party packages as well). It will read pdf, jpeg, excel...i believe power point among ohthers. sweet device.
4)It's not a "dumbphone" by any means....it syncs with outlook and wirelessly through the blackberry server also. I believe you can change the settings to save all of your outgoing/incoming message in outlook.....

the suretype takes some getting use to....but pretty cool. gre...

I have a BB 7250 and use BIS. I have a separate email icon for each of my accounts (5) and a Messages folder. All messages are dumped into the Message folder but they are also delivered to the specific email account folder. You will NOT see email sent from your BB in Outlook's Sent Items. However, through the BB web portal you can set up auto BCC, which I did. I then created a rule in Outlook to move all mail sent from specific accounts to the Sent Items folder and mark it as Read. Simply put, when I send an email from my BB the email address I'm sending from sends a BCC to itself. The Outlook rule marks the email as Read and moves it to Sent Items. I also set up the rule to stop forwarding email from my email account to the BB so I don't ha...

1)What you can do is go to backup assistant website and use the print view to copy and paste the contacts in excel. Then you can either try and mess around with the .csv and import it in outlook contacts. What i did is entered them manually into outlook which also gave me a chance to clean them up before syncing. Please whatever you do DO NOT transfer them at the store. The machines work great for phones but will mess up Smarphone/PDA address books.
2)All messages will go into "Messages", but email accounts will have their own inbox as well. And no, your messages are not duplicated, the extra icon is just a filter.
3)Yes
4)No. The email on the blackberry (BIS) is completely detached from your outlook. The only time emails will sync betwee...

actually the BIS does have an outlook monitor feature similar to wireless sync. Unfortunately, like wsync, the computer has to remain on for it to work. It is email only though.

To use the BES you have to subscribe to the $44.99/month data plan instead of the $29.99/month BB data plan. As far as user license, the corporation has probably already paid for that .....the 45 plan lets you access your corporate account.
