Hi guys, here is my situation. Can you please tell me what you think I should do given my situation? Thanks in advance.

I am 5 mos. into my 2 year contract I signed back in June of 07 when i purchased my BB8830 with rebate. If I decide I like the Voyager whenever it hits the shelves (I am not going to pre-order), I might purchase it. I think I am aligned more with the Voyager than the BB as BB is more business oriented. I really really like the trackball function of it but that's about it, pretty vanilla compared to smartphone like Voyager.

Having said that, what are my options for purchasing this phone? will I have to pay full price for it? Is there any way I can just re-sign for 2 year contract if they give me disc. on the ...

You will have to pay full retail minus any equipment discount that you might qualify for. Sell your 8830 on ebay should get like 300 hun for that thing, the retail on the voyager will be like 420, so you we not have to pay that much.

The full retail on the Voyager might be higher than that, because at 2 yr price it's coming out at 349.99 - 50.00 MIR... 😕

He won't qualify for any equipment discount if he's not eligible to upgrade. You have to be eligible to even get a discount from your employer.

if your blackberry was lost/stolen/damaged you can get the 1 year contract price on any phone you want with a 1 year contract, and if you have more then one year left it doesnt even extend you.

Im guessing 1 yr pricing would be 399.99 with a 50$ mir so 349.99

Hmmm.. never heard of this? I've heard of the 25% off which isn't normally in their best interest. Usually retail in my store is about the same as with Verizon's 25% off and doesn't require a contract renewal.

retail on the voyager is 469.99, using the %25 off retail replacement program would make the phone $352.49. Which is only $2.50 more than what the normal promo price would be! 😁

Hmmm... very true! I like that that cost on the phones is coming down. More profit margin for the agents.

Another comeback for the 25% off though is that we give out rebates on retail purchases as well as no contract renewal. Sometimes that's a better deal, sometimes it's not I guess.

that's right, VZW is no longer offering 25% off the full retail anymore. we are honoring the 1yr equipment pricing instead, ONLY if the account qualifies. (must be lost, stolen or damaged, not eligible for any sort of upgrade, and no phone protection on the account). must also agree to a one year.

So I should sell my BB on ebay...then tell them my phone was stolen and agree to one year?

so if i decide to do this, will whoever buys my BB be still able to activate it and use the BB under diff. account?

I don't understand what I should do...

nope that won't work. if you report your blackberry stolen, it will be put on a stolen phone list, so whoever you sell it to won't be able to use it.

That is not correct. As someone stated earlier, there is no longer the option for 25% off full retail plus new 2 year contract.

The offer now for lost/damage/stolen if you are not eligible and do not have insurance on the account is 1 year discounted pricing which requires a 1 year contract. If your current contract end date is more than a year away (which you said you just signed for the BB this past summer) then it will not change the physical contract end date since it is more than a year away.

So your best option is to sell the phone on Ebay like someone said and hope to get a decent price and just buy the Voyager at full retail with the money from the BB that you sold.

Heh, so mister makes fun of people for giving our wrong information himself is giving out wrong info as the 25% off retail program was discontinued ;P Maybe someone should spend more time reading M&P updates and reading those emails they spam us with about updated policies.
