NEW PLANS = NICKEL AND DIME

For example if you end the month with 9 data sessions of .5MB each (4.5MB total) that will be rounded to 5MB.
You will NOT be rounded up to 1MB per session.
VZW is charging $1.99 a MB.
which is really cheaper?

And if I accidently hit the web key it cost me. Even getting to the "free my account" on mobile web is going to cost data transmission. Again what is the positive side for customers with these new plans? Also I think you might be forgetting that vzw is the only one out there that basically forces customers to use GIN for almost everything... So in actuallity even though the rate is the cheapest it is still going to be more expensive. They also are going to round up to the nearest MB...
You don not have to worry about the new plans; if you already have verizon wireless, this doesn't appy to you. You as a current customer, still be charge minutes of use for GIN, and other data application.
as for rounding up to the nearest MB thats only done once at the end of the month, not on every connection like it was with minutes. With minutes you made fifteen connections to the mobile web over the month by mistake they were like 5 seconds each, each one rounded up thats 15 minutes.
If you made 15 accidental connections on the new deal it would be a very small amount of Data which at the end of the month would maybe round up to 1mb, but not 15 mb like with minutes.
also you can block the data so if you don't want it to be a problem block it.
I currently have an AMERICA'S CHOICE II FAMILYSHARE PRI 2100 ANY UNL N&W/IN CLG. The primary line is eligible for a new every 2 upgrade as of Oct 16, which I'm sure would extend the contract for another 2 yrs. With the new data charges coming out, am I wise to make the move now or to wait and see what happens over the next couple of months?
From the formula used above on the actual cost, they might as well just add $.50 to the price of ringtones and games from GIT.
I and my family buy ringtones here and there, but going to a per mb charge will slow that way down, so actually in my case, verizon will be losing money from my five lines by going this route.
And I know I read that verizon is not a follower, they just proved that wrong here. Other carriers are doing it, so verizon might as well to. No...

If you upgrade your equipment, as long as you stay on the same plan you do not have to bump up to the Nationwide plans, you can stay on your current plan.
If you are on a single line and go to family share after the 1st you will be on Nationwide. So hurry up and add those lines now.
If you are on a Family share plan and want to add lines the new lines will stay on the "America's Choice"
Americas Choice = Mins of use for GIN,APPS, etc
Nationwide = Megabyte billing for downloads and apps.
go complain about their prices.
I know some people are frugle and do it on Nights or Weekend. You don't have to change your plans.
As for Verizon not being a follower, they do stuff other carriers do... but do it better.
Verizon charges ETF's like other carrier, but now they prorate them
Verizon changed from 15 day to 30 day return policy like other carriers but they do Test Drive, so if you port out... You don't pay for your calls/service
Verizon now charges for data but 1.99 per MB vs the $10.24/MB (at&t) and $30.72/MB (Sprint)
The fact is Verizon does it in a way and can market it to the point that they can still get away with it until another company knocks them off their "Our **** don't stink pile" and takes their place. Either way, I digress, onto the subject.
I work in a call center, I don't necessarily LOVE these new plans, but it is going to cause just as much complaining as "Oh why do I have to use airtime to send pictures or download ring tones or browse?"
No one will be happy with either policy, I get c...

Depending on how long they are browsing compared to airtime. Just an off chance but still. 5 lines spending about 30 minutes a piece per month on the GIN apps. Thats 150 minutes, that could be the difference of moving down a price plan or not.
It's not unusual to see that kind of browsing on the GIN platform.
