This is how a phone release really works...

There's been a lot of talk about release dates and when phones are coming out. So I decided to write a little bit about what typically happens when new phones are released.

When a phone comes out, this is what happens...

--Its in infocenter, reps will start buzzing about it on phonescoop and other phone enthusiast websites.

--VZW may release a press release stating the exact date for release (eg: Moto Razr V9M press release today)

--Stock will start to arrive at the stores, but they may or may not be able to actually sell the phone. Reps will typically inform people on websites like this when the stock begins to arrive.

--Finally, reps will continue to provide info on concrete dates as supply continues to come in. And the ...

In our area it shows up on internal sites about a week or two before launch. (You can actually find a lot or phones months ahead of schedule if you know what to look for.) We get the units the Friday before launch.(They usually drop on Tues.) If someone ask before then and it doesn't ring up $999999.99 we start selling.

Damn man when are you going to give it up. 🤣

Do you work for VZW? I do and so do a lot of others on this site. Please RE-READ cwcanty's orignal post and leave it alone. The phone will not be out on the 15th nor the 16th.

Nobody has had any formal training on these devices or WM6 for that matter. I am on the Data Tech team. This would have been mentioned weeks ago if this was the case.

Have a good night 😲

I'm just trying to reinforce the idea that you shouldn't believe every snapped picture of a excel spreadsheet that you come across. Not you, but in general.

Just curious. When you say it says $999999.99 for a phone, would the system actually let you sell it for that price? Obviously I know that no one would buy a phone for that price, but I'm just curious - if someone were to offer to pay that high amount for a phone, would VZW let the sale go through even though it would be before the release date (and possibly be breaking any rules that prevented them from releasing it early?) And they'd probably fire you for doing that wouldn't they?

Just curious that's all.

The part you are missing is that call center reps can check the invintory report if they know how to find it to see phones before they are announced.

Please note, reps can not do this for you if you call in. Its just something internal that employees can see what phones are in stock at the warehouse and thus see phones listed as soon as they start coming in from the manufacturer.
