What's up with the W385???
Hello everyone,
Just wondering, who designed the W385?
1. Is it just me, or is there absolutely no way to tell what is the current ringtone the phone is set to use? When you go into the list of ringtones, there is NO indicator, dot, or ANYTHING in front of the current set ringtone. WHY no indicator?
2. If it is a Motorola, WHERE ARE the smart keys on the side so that the phone can be set from ring to vibrate mode without opening the flip? Is this really a Motorola phone?
3. What's with the little cover that covers the charging port? I'll give this about a month before this breaks off of its flimsy hinge.
4. Why is the lame, stupid Verizon UI on such a basic phone??? The Samsung u340 does NOT have the Verizon UI, and...

Oh, and to answer you question. The same people who made the RAZR & KRZR and are trying to continue to squeeze every last drop of money on an old design that should of been retired two years ago. Which was further diluted by a company that believes in the "AOL theory of use-ability" that it should all look the same and be crippled as hell.

Actually, I agree with BigRed on his first point.... Moto has milked the RAZR form factor to death and beyond. 😳
Far as the 'simple common AOLish UI' thing goes... well, that's the future. High-end/geeky customers may feel differently, but Joe and Jane Average don't want to learn a whole new UI every time they buy a new phone. And they want the UI to be as simple as possible too.
After all, its not like when you walk into a computer store to buy a PC that there's a separate Dell OS, Sony OS, HP OS, Gateway OS, eMachines OS, etc. depending on what computer you buy. Its all Windows (unless you buy a Mac).

Wrong, this phone has Bluetooth. The Samsung U340 as well as any other VZW phone that doesn't have Bluetooth are the ones that don't have the VZW UI. How else are they going to make sure File Transfers are disabled???

Bluetooth has nothing to do with the crap UI. Any phone that is capable of GET IT NOW access is going to to have the UI.

Your nuts, this is the best moto out right now. If you go pick up a razr or krazr most of the same things you just complained about will still be ther, except the ui Will be even worse and slower!!!
I would take this phone over a krazr or razr any day, Better build quality then razr, cheaper then krazr, and the menus are so much faster.

this is a cheaper phone, comparable to the moto325, hence mid range model. As far as comparing it to samsungs...WEll they don't work worth a crap out here so we stopped carrying them. no that one is ok, i am talking mainly the cheaper ones with internal antenna. The 930 was ok but the newer internal antenna ones have reception issues bad by me, I get cusotmers in all the time complaining, but the internal on the motos and lg's seem fine. The 740,620 seem ok as well, but the others like the 630,870,340,540 i have had many complaints on reception

The Rubberized feel is the best, the rubberized belt clip is awesome as well.

It's OS is fast..
Yes it does not have Vcast and Music, but if phone functionality is what you want, this phone is the best.
I am the biggest LG and Samsung fan in the world but in this case Moto has done it big time and for you to slam this phone is completely ridiculous.

Overall it really is nice to carry this thing in the black ruberized belt clip. It snaps in and out so nice. I think I take it in and out , 2000 times a day and it's always in and secured.
It's just a workhorse that is real nice..
I want more features believe me. The V9m sounds so good, but I bet it will not be as nice construction wise as good as the W...
The battery also I think is going to suck on the V9m, You cant do 730 MAH and have a phone that works for more tahn 1 hour.. Maybe it has a Nuclear Reactor for power , they will need it with that 2" outside screeen 🙂
