I send/receive a few a day maybe on the order of 100 a month, but most are to other verizon customers, so I go with the cheapest $5 plan with unlimited VZW messages.

The $5 plan DOES NOT HAVE unlimited text to VZW customers. The $5 plan gives you a flat 250 text/pix or flix.
For $10, you can get unlimited IN plus 500 to others though.

I spend $50 right now on texting. $10 for my phone with the 500 messages and 2 $20 plans for wife/daughter. Obviously I will switch and save $20 monthly...which I know will just be spent by my wife at Macy's!
