No doubt. They should have done this from the get-go. Just another example of our beloved employer jumping on the bandwagon a bit late in the game 🙄

The new PRLs are out. Everybody, *228, option 2, or if you want to be a twit about it, *22890. 😁

Will existing VZW customers have to manually do this update for them to take advantage of this admittedly good change?

If so, I'd expect you guys to get a lot of unhappy customers who expected a change and didn't know they had to dial something from their phone to make it work.

I guess the real reason I'm asking is to find out if I should expect an influx of VZW customers wanting to port their numbers. ;)

Yes. IF they have the IN-Network promo that's been running since about May '04, then they'll have to do *228, option 2 to get the new PRL loaded in.

If so, I'd expect you guys to get a lot of unhappy customers who expected a change and didn't know they had to dial something from their phone to make it work.

I doubt it. It's really just a change in the existing promo, and I haven't seen any new advertising regarding it.

Sorry. I forgot how far back it went, I was thinking of the $10 family-fee change a few months back, I think. Hell, I don't remember what I had for breakfast today, much less when we started offering that farking promo 😁

Correction: "MOST" of the extended network. 😉
The major changes are for Local Digital Choice customers as they are the only ones that require new plans (no contract required if on single plans from Feb '04 or family plans from Aug '04 or later).
As far as America's Choice folx, just update the PRL, but again, you must be on plans from Feb '04 (single) or Aug '04 (family).

Are you sure about the February 2004 date for AC plans? So if one is on the unlimited IN Network plan, but from a commencement date prior to February, 2004, then it's necessary to enter into a new contract in order to be able to utilize the unlimited IN Network plan in Verizon's extended area (we already have it for the Verizon area)? This doesn't make much sense to me, although anything is possible.

You got me going, so I called customer service following your post and was told that even though my AC plan commenced prior to February, 2004, I will still receive the new unlimited In Network area covering Verizon's extended area, as well as its own network. All I have to do, I was told, is to dial +228, option 2.

The unlmtd IN network promo started on amc 0204 price plans. If you're on an amc plan originating prior to 0204 you will to need to change to a new pp to get the extended in network coverage area.

Because you seem so sure, I just called customer service again and they told me that it is NOT necessary to enter into a new plan for contracts that preceded 2/04 for AC plans. They said that it was necessary to enter into a new plan only for Local Digital Choice plans.
