So i get my income tax refund back, and finally decide to break down and get the samsung A990. I go online, fill out the info, use my NE2 upgrade discount, and with he online discount, I am saving $150. I get to the payment screen, enter in my credit card information, turn over my CC to put in the CVW number. Lo and behold, somehow, the number is illegible. For some reason, its on the scratch off material, and i guess after, 4 years, its become partially scratched off. I go to the bank order a new card. 5-10 business days. I have been patiently waiting for a new phone since 10/2006. So i notice there is an option to pay using verizon gift cards. I go to my nearest verizon store, buy 3 $100 gift cards. Redo the order, leave the credit...

Dam that sucks. And I thought I had bad luck.

Just order over the phone, they will bill it to your account, or go into a store and buy it. They will swipe your card and won't need the number on the back!

Or you could just get it at your local store. But its only fair to warn you I know of three people I work with that have carried that phone for a number of months and are not impressed with its performance.

Online i get $150, and the final price ends up being $249, in the stores i only get my ne2 discount, and they have it priced at 425.00, so i end up with a final price of 325.00 that extra $75 is killing me.
I will have to try the phone. You sure they wont ask for the cvw number?

I'm with you. I think VCast is stupid. I don't see how Mobile TV will be any better.

Gunny,

Its a blessing because he was about to spend 300 on a phone that is over priced. The phone is great, but we have better things coming out soon. I believe the Mobile TV service will be a home run, just wait and see. I

The tv phones really aren't for me. I just need a good camera phone. I know its best to get a camera and a phone. But beggars cant be choosers.
I also heard a rumor that ne2 discount is only good for 6 months, which i am trying to verify, so i cant wait forever for these new phones coming down the pipe. I am already cutting it close waiting the 5-10 business days for my card, if that rumor is true. And since i am what i like to call frugal, I am going to use it before i lose it.
thanks for all the advice though.

I haven't seen anywhere that the NE2 is good for only 6 months. I have customers coming in that have a NE2 for older than 6 months...

From the Support->FAQ page on Verizon's web page:

"Our New Every Two program is available to you by maintaining a 2-year contract. If you would like to sign up for a 2-year contract today, your phone will be less expensive and you will remain enrolled in the New Every Two program. If you upgrade your phone without a 2-year contract, you will lose the future benefit and will automatically be de-enrolled.

If you enrolled in the program on or after 11/25/02, you must take advantage of the New Every Two offer within six months of becoming eligible; ...
