New Phones???

Pawlee13

I am curious....US Cellular rarely offers new phones. And when they do bring in new phones, the phones are horrible and are outdated compared to other companies phones. Does anyone know why this is, or when we could expect phone offered by US Cellular like the Motorola L2 and L6&7?

The service is GREAT, and I would never switch, but wish US CELLULAR would offer better, cooler phones!

The third party company us cellular uses for potential phone testing probably gets paid by the day so it takes a while, and it is hard to market toward trend shoppers, they usually want a new phone every 3 months.

AND most "cool" phones are offered to GSM phones 1st

BUT keep in mind compare our RAZR to cingulars
we have double the memory and the camera is better

so is it more important to have the latest and greatest or to have a fully functioning phone that not only looks good but performs amazing... even if it is later its worth it when you are out with your friends and everyone has to use your phone to make a phone calL!

And keep in mind and compare our razr to Verizons. Their new razor is much better then ours. I'm talking razr M. 😲
Be that as it may we may see some new phones by the end of summer.

Welcome to the world of EVERYONE who has ever had usc. Best service, Phones that look like something out of a DEVO music video. I'll stay with them for the service though.

But Damn...Its so Difficult to look at Cingular's Lineup especially the Motorola L2 6 and 7......Does anyone see these phones making it to USCC's lineup?

It's always a possibility. We did get the RAZR (2 years late) 🤨

2 years late? we had it as soon as it was made for cdma, dont blame us cellular because the drive for motorola to make it in cdma wasnt great.

Same issue with the sliver, we won't get it until motorola makes a cdma one, and they haven't done so.

No you didnt. Verizon had the cdma Razr several months before US Cellular got it, or at least released it.

This is incorrect. Alltel had it first (November), then Verizon (week after Thanksgiving), then USCC (December 16). No carrier had an exclusive on the V3c and the timing of the release by each carrier had everything to do with each carrier's testing and nothing else.

Care to wager?

Hey, Alejandro,
I just got my connections, and there are more tentatives on it. WTH is a lg ux245, what's up with LG and USCC having these phantom phones.... Same with sam pascal.... where can I find these phones, just to look.

Did you see that the ux 390 is finally on phonescoop! Well, at least it looks better than the 4750

it looks a lot nicer but it offers nothing new, it would be a good change from my 4750 if it was that color scheme for us.

That's what I meant by saying that it at least looks cool. As long as they fixed the battery/charging port issue, I'll love this phone. That and the inability for the 4750 to accept ota updates if it missed one was making me cranky about that phone.

i never really had a problem with my phone, i dont think there is adequate cushion though, because the keys will soon be imprinted in my screen and my star key has to be hit a certain way for it to work.

Jun 14, 2006, 2:51 PM
I haven't seen that issue. We have had two reasons to send it back to warranty, charging port issue, and the ota issue. BTW, that one is a mess. Aparantly, if you are out of area and miss a flash, the phone might not ever accept one again until you get it reset by either a corporate store or warranty technician.

havent heard that, but 90% of PTT people dont go outside of that area, mostly because PTT doesnt work out there

I've noticed that most of the ones that come in for warranty repair have been really, really used! (read beat up) But LG usually takes care of them anyway.

SLVR for CDMA? Yes. Verizon and/or Sprint will have it first sometime before September. USCC likely will have it in the 4th quarter.

Moto Q? USCC likely will get it in the late fall. Expect a rollout of EV-DO by then.

FYI...I'm just a customer. Love the service and the V3c, which is flat-out the best phone USCC has ever carried.

Fincher,
How do you know that USCC is going to have the SLIVR?

Plus...I am at this point, bidding on a V3c and wondered if there was anything specific to keep in mind. Thanks

I only know USCC will test the SLVR, which means a great deal. The V3c is an excellent phone, especially with the firmware update. If the phone doesn't have the update, you will be able to have it done at a USCC tech center very shortly. All new V3c phones come with the updated firmware though not likely on eBay at this point.

The V3c will be phased out eventually with the V3m, the only difference being the TF card next to the battery. Verizon is making the transition now so expect the V3m with USCC sometime later.

Maybe the V3m will be used with EV-DO???

LASTLY, I like PhoneScoop a lot but the USCC forum here absolutely blows. I rarely post here because there's nothing of substance. If you really want to get solid info on USCC, go ...

The Razr may be a cool phone, but we spend more time talking people out of them than we do anything else. 1st, it's digital only, and in rural america, that isn't a good thing. Makes it about as useful as a gsm phone in most places around here. (better as a paperweight) 2nd, it is flimsy. We have had over 75% of the phones we sold since it became available go back to insurance, one after it fell off a table. 3rd, mostly teens, and mid live crisis people are buying them, and neither of them seem to understand replacement value for a phone such as the razr, and I'm getting tired of hearing whining about a $450 phone.

I was at my US Cellular store Saturday signing a new contract with my parents and lamented to the agent how I really wanted the Slider Remix but it had been so long that it didn't look like they were going to get it. He went to the back and came back with their demo model. He said that they had just gotten it a few days ago so they were expecting their shipment pretty soon. I'm holding off getting a new phone until that one comes in.

Yup, it's coming. I need to order my ee demo phone. I can't decide between the slider and a razr. I like the slider better, but I don't like keeping a real razr out as a demo. I don't know.

If I was in charge of a phone carrier service, I'd seriously consider releasing my phones more slowly also. USCC has had less problems, like having to recall phones because they are pieces of Sh!t. They test their phones well, except the fact that the Motorola 266 is a POS. The person who made that phone is worthless... 🤨

I hate 262s as well. Hopefully the 323 will hold up better, I've been assured they will. If we get one more bad phone from motorola, we are going to stop carrying them.

We didn't have any problems with the 710, but we only sold about 20 of them due to price.

Jun 15, 2006, 5:09 PM
yeah, we didnt sell many of them either, but over 50% of the ones we did sell had to go out for repair for one reason or another, one of them was for a state senator.

I agree that motorola phones are pieces of crap, if someone calls or comes into the store and says they can't get there phone to charge, I don't even have to ask what kind it is, over half of the phones we send out for warranty are motorolas, at least motorola has finally started using a different charging port but it only took them like 3 years to catch on.

So, Hey guys, I know this is a little off topic, but help me figure out which EE demo phone to get. Razr or Slider Remix. I loved my old slider, but I don't want to keep a regular Razr out for show. If the Razr m comes out soon, I think I'll go for it, but it seems to me the Remix does more than the Razr C does at this time. What do you think?

They aren't free, they come out of Co-op money. Well, if they steal a demo phone, besides getting a phone they can't use 1. For very long, 2 away from this one tower, 3. with no longdistance. 4. no txting.... it doesn't cost us anything but our ad money. If they steal a phone I have out, then I have problems, if they activate it before I get it reported, then I'm just out a phone, that I paid for with real money.

I found out about the release for the Xcursion, slider and sam 850 from ordering them before I got anything from USCC about their release. I still haven't gotten a release announcement for the Xcursion or the Samsung, but I was told they are release and that I can sell them. I'm a little scared about the UT 7250. I hate Audiovox's and this looks like a cheaper version of what we already hate. Plus it doesn't have an external screen. I don't think I'm even going to carry them, unless they are $20 or less, of course. BTW, I just took all my AV 8910's off the shelf. I'm only selling them to customers who already know the model number or come in with a E911 letter. I hate that phone with a passion!
