i have a customer thats wondering if its possible to use the mp3's and voice recordings as ringtones in his phone? i remember going through that nokia training and the lady that was talking to us she gave us a website that would change the format of the song to something diff. does anyone know how to do this or even know that website. thanks everyone 🙂

Straight mp3s I believe not. If you're downloading real tones from Sony Music box, they're mp3s. But they download with some 'dir.dat' file which probably makes it possible with Sony's files. I haven't tried a straight mp3 from that particular folder. It might work but I haven't tried it. I had my mp3s in another folder without the dir.dat. I'm gonna try it again as soon as I can get another mp3 bluetoothed from a buddy of mine.

Voice recordings can't be used. But I haven't even tried to find a way around it. There might be. Never heard of a website to convert the files either.

You can not do this. The ONYL thing you can use as ring tones are those that you download via EasyEdge or the stock ones that come on the phone already.

We are told that this will US Cellular will not block this type of feature on future Nokia models.

So on those ringtones from easyedge. Has anyone figured out how to use those ringtones and assign them to contacts without using the caller groups.

There is no way. It's impossible. Nokia can't even do a software update to make it work.

You can NOT assign downloaded ringtones to individual contacts unless you use Nokia's "Diego" software to change the settings. Period. End of story. Impossible.

Diego is the software that Nokia engineers use to modify cell phone settings. You can't buy it. It is out there on the web. Put bluntly, it's "cracked" (stolen) software. It is not recommended that anyone use it.

You'll have to find it on your own.

That is a very good question! I haven't asked, but I'd be willing to bet that the answer is no. I'll sent an e-mail to my Nokia contact and ask.

anytime you e-mail a manufacturer about things to do on your phone they will send you back a response saying due to their contracts with us cellular they are not allowed to help you with things like that, but you get that for every company.

I called Nokia about some other issues once before and it was also in one of our agent emails that even Nokia won't change it over.
