USCC/Cellular One Merger???
I had a customer call and tell me that they had rcvd a letter from Cellular One that they would be merging with USCC in the next few months. I had heard about the All-Tel area that was to become USCC, but hadn't heard anything regarding Cellular One. I am waiting on a call back from my AAE, but still just wondering if anyone else had heard anything. I just found it odd that Cellular One would send out letters to customers before we even heard anything of it. Either we are the last to know or the customer read the letter wrong. Anybody know anything?

uscc bought parts of cellularone that were cdma from alltel(as part of the fcc requirements of the sale to alltel) so yes, uscc actually purchased parts of cellularlone/western wireless

yes, there was no merger but us cellular purchased those areas, probably part of a trade for idaho.

I knew there was something in the works there, but I figured we'd have a heads up before we had customer's coming in with letters from Cellular One. I know that the transition isn't set to happen officially for a month or so, so why would Cellular One be sending out the letters already?

They probably wanted to give the customers in divested markets a heads up that US Cellular was acquiring them instead of Alltel. At least that's better than in some of the AT&T divested markets, where customers got no warning that those AT&T customers got acquired by Alltel instead of Cingular. Only hope that US Cellular doesn't try to force people out of their contracts like Cingular did with AT&T customers, especially those who had a while to go on their contracts.

We are getting the rest of the Nebraska (except the panhandle) and a good chunk of Kansas, it'll be instagated somewhere in the June-July time period. My store mgr. also said there are rumors of us getting the west central sections of Misouri as well, but that won't take place until at least late 06, early 07. Solidify us up a little in our central region.
