I don't think US Cellular will ever get the Storm, it is exclusive to Verizon only.

verizon build the phone, paid blackberry 40 million dollars for them to put their software on it..

The storm offically and will only be on Verizon..

But after the storm being made and verizon making 2 bids to get blackberry to put their software on it, Blackberry is in works of making their own touch to release. =]

This is completely untrue. Research In Motion makes Blackberries, not Verizon Wireless, regardless of whether its the Pearl, Curve, Storm, or whatever. If this were true Verizon would be the only carrier who sells the Storm when in fact there is a completely different model (9500) of the Storm made for GSM currently being sold in other countries.

^.~ go ask any RIM, employee how much verizon coughed up with the design, asking for the software to be placed on it, they offered 20 million and paired with another company to do a total of 40 million dollars.

this was our first question to Blackberry in one of the meetings.

in otherewards did verizon make it no, did they go to verizon with the idea, and the cash, and asked for it.

yes. took multiple bids, ending at 40 million for blackberry to agree to it, and black berry is working on one that isn't contracted just to verizon, to be able to sell to other carriers.

if you do get a chance to be in meetings with a blackberry rep, feel free to ask.

Yes there is a GSM version of the Storm that was made before the CDMA Verizon STORM. And its sold by a little company called VODAFONE... which coincidentally owns a majority share of Verizon Wireless. What a coincidence... 🙄

🤣 🤣 🤣

You need to do alittle more research before you start rambling!

Blackberry is the MAKER of the storm!

NOT verizon..they are the company that CARRIES it!

and to answer the orginal question...we most likely will never get the storm.

Don't think the total was forty million...since I have been in a meeting with a BB rep and asked that very question. His response was that VW paid around two million in R&D...I will take his word for it. Honestly, how many Storm's would you have to sell to make spending $40,000,000 worth it.

As for the Storm, no we wont get it but we will get the next generation of one that they build based off what they learn from the Storm...

If I am not mistaken and correct me if I am wrong. But I believe that verizon only has a lock on this phone for 6 months. Like any other phones that are specific to a carrier and then after that time it will come open for another carrier to have. I personally wouldn't want the storm right now. I would want the second or third version of it. When all the bugs are out of it. But even if for some reason uscc gets the storm it will be when the 6 months and then the testing that is done with every phone is over. So it would be at least a year before the storm would be thought of. Hopefully I won't have to wait that long to get a touch screen bberry.

Spoke to my BB rep last week.

HE in fact disbanded any rumors about the development of another touch screen BB in the near future. ☹️
