Nokia?

Will UScellular EVER have another Nokia phone? What happened to the 3606 that someone said was coming soon? Frankly, I am tired of waiting. I have been a loyal US cellular customer for more than 8yrs. I have looked at all the other phones currrently offered and don't like any of them for one reason or another. Does anyone know anything? I would prefer to stay where I am, but am ready to make the switch to a different carrier.

TechGuy and SisterCell are right. The Nokia failed testing and will not be offered. This is why you numbnuts should NOT tell customers that a phone is in testing, or even worse would be telling them it will be released soon. Read your code of conduct. It prohibits you from giving this info (unless you want fired). It also upsets customers like this one who was told it was coming and has waited for it. Now he has to find out it won't happen.

So eloquently said! People that refer to others as 'numbnuts' in a public forum are just as likely to cost USCC a long- standing customer as USCC not having a Nokia phone.

If a customer comes in and asks if we are anticipating a Nokia phone (or any manufacturer for that matter), I will tell the customer the truth.

With that being said, it is also our responsibility to mention that, just because the phone is currently in testing, it has the chance of failing.

This customer is not necessarily a lost cause. He/She has been with USCC for 8 years. Chances are, if the sales rep does their needs analysis appropriately, we can still find a phone that fits this customer's desires.

i agree, the customers who always want the latest and greatest want to hear about the phones that are in testing that way they know whether or not to get a phone we already have or if there's something better coming out. It could break a sale and have the customer going somewhere else if he or she doesn't think we are coming out with anything new.

In response to the person saying that LGs are like similar to nokias (interface wise) is completely untrue. I despise my LG ux830 (And I gave it a honest chance) ... I wish I still had my Nokia 6265i ... Camera beat it HANDS DOWN, interface was customizable, more rugged, better battery, better reception plus the whole JAVA capable glory that it had.

I wish that I didn't drop my Nokia from a 30ft ladder on to pavement (I am a Cable Tech). Any N series that USCC comes out with will be in my possession the day it comes out.

I have spoken to a regional manager for USCC about bringing back the Nokia but he had said that it was out of his hands entirely.

I appologise for the rant ... I just really miss a phone that I can count on an...

I agree that Nokia phones were a reliable phone
not always the "cool" phone in CDMA but reliable signal and battery life.
However from what I heard over Christmas it sounds like they may have private labeled their new CDMA phones. Who is supposed to be manufacturing them I don't know. I heard this through a relative that works for Agilent Technologies as an electrical engineer. I do believe this may be the case since the Nokia failed USCC testing which I was not expecting.
So I do question what the quality of any future Nokias will be and who is actually making them? Just thought I would share the info

I found this article from 2006 that mentions that Pantech(Korea) and KTFT are two companies that are making the phones and putting Nokia's name on them.

I ended-up purchasing an 'as-is' samsung U520 that had been returned by another customer before the 30 day trial period ended. I got it from one of the local USCellular corporate stores. I'm not overly pleased with it, but I can live with it for the time being. There are a few things I don't like about it such as not being able to turn the vibrate on/off separately from the ring volume. The T9 predictive txt doesn't learn words. Several other things that are well covered in the forum for the 520 so I won't mention them here. By far my biggest disappointment with this phone is with mp3 player. It simply will not recognize any of the music that I have loaded onto the memory card. Keeps saying "No MP3 files found on card". No matter where I l...

first for the music issue on the 520 try converting all your music to mp3 format many devises will not recognize any other format and converting should fix your problem

next the rumor is nokia is not longer being made by nokia but by a 3rd party company and that could be a reason why they did not pass uscc testing. it has nothing to do with the branding of the devices.

if you have any othe issues let us know
