Question... Blackberry Pearl and Plan

I am considering going from a Moto Krzr to a Blackberry Pearl. I am 1 year into my current contract which is the Nat'l 650 plan and unlimited txt. In order to keep the monthly cost down with adding the Blackberry service I would like change to a Wide Area 700 and 750 text messages. What if any impact will that have on my current two-year agreement? Will I need to sign a new two-year agreement or can I?

I also have a question regarding the Blackberry and its EV-DO capability. I live in Central Iowa where we do not have EV-DO. Fast forwarding to the day it does become available in this area... is the Pearl capable to use EV-DO? I have a minimal understanding of the EV-DO anyway, so if my Blackberry or any phone for that did or did ...

first, no contract. you can change plans whenever you want.

second know that you will be paying full price for the pearl. i would suggest trying to find a 30 day used one to cut the cost. i can help if you need. (dsm area)

third, yes, as soon as evdo goes online the phone will utilize it.

the previous poster was correct.

retail pearl 499.99

i have used (30 exchange) versions for 225-275
(ETN / NC AREA)

and if you ever decide to switch back to the krazr you can and it will drop off the 24.99 plan and then you may or may not adjust other things like min and text....

but again changes to a plan does not renew contract....

other option call customer service and ask how much it would cost to get out of your contract and tell them you want a new phone....they have been offering 45-75 buyout fees and that + 179.99 for the pearl (then get 100 rebate visa card) so 79.99 after rebate + the upgrade free they charge. Not a bad deal....

Hope that helps!

Thanks Knoxvegas! I took your advice and called into customer service. I was able buy out my contract and get a new Blackberry Pearl at the new subscriber rate plus the mail-in rebate. I am really stoked! Thanks for the advice! This one of the reasons I love being a US Cellular customer!

Cheers!
