I use my Nextel to connect my computer to the internet. Expensive option I know. Recently it stopped loading web pages.

It says connected, my IM program will connect and I can chat on it. Web pages start to load then 'Waiting for www.insertanysite.com' and nothing. Eventually it times out.

Called support. We checked settings on my computer (well I read to them what I had allready checked) They sent me to 2nd tier. 2 tier had me set up a manual connection. Also did a master reset.

Still didn't work.

Any tips or suggestions out there?

Nextel CEO: iDEN could be part of future public-safety network

Nextel President and CEO Tim Donahue yesterday said he believes the company’s iDEN network could be part of the “public-safety network of the future” after it offloads its consumer traffic to Sprint’s CDMA network a few years after the merger of Nextel and Sprint.


Previously, Nextel officials indicated that capital expenditures for the iDEN network would cease in 2007. But Donahue--speaking at the Lehman Brothers Worldwide Wireless and Wireline Conference in New York—indicated that the iDEN network would be part of the merged company’s consumer plans longer than that.

Ok, I just picked up the i710 and I'm trying to get the GPS to work. I can not get a signal from even one sat. I try standing still, placing on my windshield while driving, chanting, nothing can seem to get me a fix...

Could I need to update my almanac? If so, where do I download it and how do I upgrade it?

Got off the phone with Nextel tech support yammering about problems with their network in my traveling area. On top of network tickets, they want me to get a "grounding clip" installed. Does anybody know if this will actually help or is it a temp fix for a larger problem? Also, how long does it take to just add this clip? I don't want to go down to a local store and them tell me it needs to be sent off so the clip dealie can be fused to the antennae...

Hey everyone I have a sort of a weird question here it goes. I currently use both services here in chicago area, Nextel at work and the family has Verizon, soon though I have to choose one or the other, I currently have an i860 with Nextel and a v710 with Verizon. What do you guys think would be the better to go with if you had to choose between the 2? Kind of hard choice as I do love the direct connect from Nextel but definitly like the service reliability of Verizon!!! PLEASE HELP!!!

There wasn't much news from Nextel at this show, but we got a peek at the push-to-talk carrier's roadmap while we were at the Motorola booth. Nextel phones scheduled for the next quarter include the inexpensive, bar-style camera phone the i275; the sleek, catlike i836; the rugged i355, which has an off-network walkie-talkie and the ability to form conference calls on the fly; and the i605, Nextel's first Bluetooth phone. The i930, Nextel's first smartphone, is currently scheduled for early this fall, though we've seen that phone pushed back before, so we're not holding our breath.

I really want the I860, but im nervous about the hinge.i heard it gets loose. how loose will it get and is it worth it? should i just get the i830?

My i730 has been acting up so I'm considering a i275. I'd like some feed back from people with this phone. Thanks in advance

I was wondering if anyone can tell me why NEXTEL service in Southwest Florida (specifically Naples) is so bad? I havehardly been able to use my phone for the past few days, and during the last 2.5 months, network quality has been declining rapidly. At first I thought it was my phone (i730). I has a software upgrade installed in it, but it has not helped much at all. I went back again to NEXTEL, but all they did was to to a master reset on the phone and create a trouble ticket. At this point, I am really considering another carrier (maybe T-Mobile), but I want to stick it out because of the upcoming merger. Any suggestions.....?

Hey, im interested in the i836, i can get it for 155 with my discounts i get. I want a phone with MMS for text messaging, instead of doing it like the i730 does. Iv heard signal is great with this, functionality is great to. Can this play MP3 ringtones? Also, can you make your own like you can on the i860?

I dont care about camera to much, unless its Megapixel, and i dont care about bluetooth to much, although it would be nice. But im sick of i730.

So can it play mp3's? and should i wait till next month for a phone better thats expected for release, or get the i836 next week?

This is an article from RCR Wireless. Looks like Nextel's customers aren't happy. I can see why. They're coverage, data and voice plans suck, and their phones are ugly!

ANN ARBOR, Mich.-The wireless industry posted a 3-percent year-over-year drop in customer satisfaction, according to the American Customer Satisfaction Index ranking released by the Stephen M. Ross Business School at the University of Michigan in partnership with the American Society of Quality and consulting firm CFI Group.
Verizon Wireless posted the highest customer satisfaction result in the ranking with an index score of 67 out of 100. The result was a slight drop from the index score of 68 the carrier received last year but was still enough to top it...

i used to have a nokia 6370, then the 3570, then the 3100, but i have gone with qwest and actually chose a sanyo, the scp 8200. I really enjoy this phone, except i kinda would like to have the nokia ringtones as well, does anyone know where i can download nokia ringtones for a sanyo? sounds crazy i know but i really did enjoy those ringtones
