upgrade questions?? (former SunCom'er+3360)

I'm currently on month to month status under AT&T, but still on a regional SunCom promo plan that rocks compared to the similarly priced AT&T $40/mo plan (my SunCom plan has unlimited nites & wknds starting at 8pm, free mobile to mobile, and 1st incoming minute free, all of which the comparable AT&T plan lacks).

Unfortunately, I'm using a Nokia 3360 which has started to finally give me problems, mainly the dreaded "NO SERVICE" glitch.

I've been looking into upgrading phones and would love to do so without switching my plan over and losing what I have, but I don't know how or if it's even possible/cost effective. I've been told that if Cingular does end up buying AT&T, I would have to sign up for a new contract with them, or cancel my s...

How long before cingular takes over?

anyone know for sure how long ATT will still be around? When will I start having to abide by cingulars rules, or when does my bill start showing up in a cingular envelope?

NEC 525 question

Hey everybody... a couple of weeks ago there was a thread about this phone and whether or not it was a good one, and I think everybody who was down on this phone is mistaken. Either that or they've fixed the complaints. The earpiece volume is great and so is the signal strength. Anyway, here's my question: does anyone know if its possible to make this phone answer an incoming call automatically when you flip it open? Mine requires you to open it then accept the call, and I have been playing with the settings but I can't find it. Any help?

Suncom Service and phones

I've always been interested in getting a new phone, but am I really limited to phones that Suncom offers or can I get any AT&T phone?

I love my Allure, but I'd like a change.

It's a shame it's Cingular.

It's a shame that the new GSM America network will eventually become Cingular's. I had a good experience with AT&T. The GSM coverage was a weak point, but it's great out here in SoCal after the upgrades. I'm switching to another carrier to avoid Cingular and their unreasonable regulations.

For ATT Wireless Store Employees

My wife has been offered a job as a LEAD sales rep for a company store. So she doesn't get shortchanged, what is the average compensation for a Lead Rep for ATT? Salary/Hourly and the comission structure if possible.

Thanks.

Real Internet on phones.

Are there any phones or smartphones available that allow you to view the "real" internet like T-Mobile's Sidekick?

New website, needs feedback, with password to cheaper prices

Basically we have just finally launched our website from Beta to Active.

We are looking for some feedback about what people think about the site. Is it user friendly? Easy to navigate? Easy on the eyes?

Long story short, for your time and efforts you are entitled to cheaper pricing. Where it says "enter group code" type in "website" and you should see a dramatic change in the pricing. Feel free to pass this password around to anyone, as it is exclusive to phonescoop members and will never be invalid.

Bay Area GSM now 062204 Att

What is the latest on GSM in the bay area? I saw an earlier forum, from December 03 stating that the AT&T GSM network still wasn't very good. Should I stick with my ATT TDMA plan?

Prepay+Old Phones -- What IS the Deal?

I just ditched ATTWS for Verizon as my phone, but my wife had a wonderful idea in that we should activate one of the old phones we have and give it to the teenagers. Interesting concept in that at least they'll be able to call and tell us they'll be late or whatever. I thought it was a swell idea.

I have a string of old equipment from ATTWS. I call their sales and they are more than happy to sign me up for prepay. Except, they won't activate my Ericsson R289LX because it's "too old". And they won't put my recently deactivated GSM phone on prepay, only GoPhone.

Is there some programming on the phone that's actually required for prepay, or is ATTWS again jerking me around in the fashion that drove me away? I spent an hour on this l...

How good is AT&T in NC

Well I've been with Sprint for almost 4yrs now and my contract expires in 3 weeks. My place of employment has a deal with AT&T (50%) off phones except the PDA's and 15% off the plan. So anyway I've been thinking of switching over to AT&T from Sprint. I've had the same Sanyo 4500 phone for almost 4 yrs as well. I've noticed lately I've been getting more and more dropped calls and the reception has worsen. A lot of callers hace stated that I sound like I'm underwater. Well anyway I've been thinking of switching and wanted to hear from some folks who live in the NC area. My co-workers all have Verizon and the company just offered this plan with AT&T. I thought about Verizon but when I tried to find out why there "so-good" all I got was we offer...

Am I the only one?

I know I'm going to get hell for this.. But here goes.

Some of you people defend ATTWS with your lives. I used to be like that when I started two years ago but as of late I haven't been able to do that. ATTWS has some great rates right now don't get me wrong. But there are some serious problems with ATTWS. I sell ATTWS as an Indirect Excluse Dealer. And the past 2 weeks, around 3 to about 5 sometimes even 6 o'clock.. Their "GSM Systems are Updating." That seems the time of day the we have the most transactions and we can't even process anything. I understand the people we talk to can't do anything about that. But doesn't management need to maybe try to fix this problem. It gets pretty frustrating. Also I don't know if it's the pe...

Dual standars for phone pricing

Is anyone else as fed up with the difference between new customer and existing customer pricing on phones. Come on, do they really expect us to beleive that the cost of the phone is any different. And then they tell us how it costs so much more to get a new customer than to keep an existing one. So spend another 50 bucks on every existing customer to give them a free phone and they wont leave. But instead, they deliberately offer two very distinct pricing sets, even when the reatail is the same they offer higher discounts on new service. Now come on, they have got to notice what the number one cutomer complaint is.
