Boston/New York Service Coverage

Hello All,

Lately my wireless service provider has been dropping a lot of calls and I've been looking for alternatives.

For those in the Boston or New York or South Fork of Long Island, how is the coverage of the ATT network?

Also, what's your overall impression of both the phone and customer service?

Thanks!

adjustment advisor

First and foremost the adjustment advisor showing what to offer the customer is currently available for tdma only, gsm service does not have this function. So unless you have access to higher form of the adjustment advisor (which if you have a different adjustment advisor, which I seriously doubt!) 😎

Growing the Rude Customer

🙄 🙄

I think the ATT customers are geting to an all time low.In order to get business ATT has always done things to attract people, like free phones, courtesy re-rates,The Infamous "Trust and Adjust" policy. The worst part is that when the policy swings the other way you got Supervisors,SLR's and Resolution Specialists ignore those rules under the guise of "Q4E" the quest for quality.

At first I thought the customer was being pretty ballsy for trying but now realize that they(management)are giving it away to keep customers to hand over to cingular when they approve the "merger".

ATT is griwing rude customers like "cancer" which i think will spread to cingular.

I had a customer go to roam in Mexico, spend thousands of dol...

A small complaint about renewals and care

Good morning once again. Loyal attws exclusive Dealer in the NYC/NJ market. Just looking for a little feedback on this one. Not really a complaint.

Ok- current contract renewal guideline states that for a Dealer to get paid for tdma to gsm migration customer must be expired or within 90 days of expiring. No problem, we do tons of them and get a good commission from the Carrier. we use the new tool on one-link to qualify them. Works great

here is my complaint. Often times, customers get offers mailed rention promotions, extra minutes, etc. They then call care and say yes to the promo.

THEN, they come in and want a discount on a new phone, because they just renewed. So my plead to care is, sell them a new phone when they call ...

Customer Care...What happened??!!

Curious question to the reps out there. Are there temporary reps taking calls during this merger? I called in to have them update the IMEI on my account today. The rep answered and I told him, "sir, I just bought a new phone and would like to provide you with my new IMEI number." He asked, "IMI what?" I asked him, "did I call customer care?" He said "yes sir." And he put me on hold. Then he came back and said, "let me write down your question sir." I told him that I didn't have a question and was just calling to update the IMEI number with AT&T. He put me on hold and came back again and said, "ok sir, if you have a pen handy, I'd like to give you the number to IMEI." I said, "wait..what are you talkin' about. Give me the number to IMEI? I ca...

Cingular takeover / new phones coming?

There is an article at wirelessweek: C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\WirelessWeek_com.htm
This explains that the takeover by Cingular may be starting soon, as more movement is shown with this.

So, does the deal with Cingular have anything to do with new phones to be released with AT&T? There are many models that are supposted to be coming, like the NEC 535, Audiovox 5600, Sony Ericsson z500a, Nokia 3220, and Motorola Mpx220. Are we going to see any of these models before the takeover?

It just may be a matter of re-branding some of these models to reflect the "Cingular" name, but we're are in need of higher end phones other than the entry level to mid range Motorola trio that just came out.

moving to GSM...T637 and upcoming Motos

I think I'm ready to make the move into the wonderful world of GSM, so it's now down to choosing a phone. I'll be getting the Moto 180 for my wife (replacing her v60), and I think I'll try the T637 (replacing my nokia 8260). I'm very interested to see and try the upcoming Moto v551 and/or 620, but as we all know, neither of those are out yet.

Any thoughts on whether the release of the v551 *might* fall within my 30 day exchange window (say, Nov. 10th)? The v620 is listed to be released in Q4, but releases always seem to fall behind.

Thanks!

Another Long Time ATTWS Customer Jumps Ship!

Had TDMA service with ATTWS dropped every call (Pittsburgh, PA area). Switched to Verizon (Moto V710) on 9/21, ATTWS sends me a mailing asking me to come back. Call the number to see what kind of deal I could get (9/27). Checked into some of the phones available at ATTWS (GSM), called back today only to find out the deal that was offered to me on 9/27 was no longer valid. Why didn't the ATTWS Rep tell me that the promo was ending this week? She was supposed to give me a call back on 9/28 after I had a chance to check out the phones and never did. It's really too bad, I've been a loyal ATTWS customer for 8 years and got my parents and brother to sign up with ATTWS over a year ago.
So far very happy with my Verizon service, the Moto V71...

Gophone service and customers

I have been wanting to rant about this for a very long time. As far as I am concerened this service is really a joke, especially for those customers who say they are using this for business purposes. My question has always been if you are running a business with this type of service, what sort of business are you in? Also everyone that has a gophone needs to understand that this is one of the worst services to have if you have a mechanical defect with your device. AWS has no recourse, but to tell the customer to go to the manufacturer or buy a new phone. Also people need to learn how gophone service works, i.e. if anything is used on the service it will come out of the balance that you have on your acct. If text messaging, mmode, etc is used...

Troubleshooting phones

👿 You know something that really pisses me off, is when customers call in saying I'm having a problem with my cell phone, and you know one of the first questions that you ask is...are you on the phone. Often times the answer is yes. Then the you ask if the are near another phone and often times the answer is no. My analogy is this you dont call up a mechanic and say I need to have my car worked on, however Im driving the car right now. Could you fix it while I'm driving it? Come on, this is for any carrier....if you are having a friggin issue with your phone/service then call the 800 number it is printed on just about everything that is sent to you

AT&T Scandals & Spoiled Customers

As a team leader rep for ATTWS care, I am exposed to the best and the worst of both the company and its customer's.

Not only is AT&T probably the worst wireless provider, the customers are also the most spoiled.

Here are some facts to prove my point:

Did you know that........

ATTWS is secretly forcing TDMA customers to switch over to GSM by only offering three of the worst Nokia phones AND by turning down the power for TDMA to the bare minimum on many of its cell towers? 😲

Customers who call in about a problem with their bill wanting some kind of credit, stating that "I have been an ATT customer for X amount of years," immediately lowers their chances of actually getting a credit. Care reps DO NOT care if someone has bee...

Phone release coming soon?

Is the Motorola MPX220, rumored to be released on October 18th to Cingular, could be coming at AT&T within a week of that date.

There could be the NEC 535 model coming soon as well, it is shown in the November issue of Popular Mechanics branded under the AT&T name, so it could be coming any day now, considering Cingular is knocking.

Anyone know what phone, if not these two mentioned, could be released anytime soon?

voice activated dailing of Motorola V505 or LG1150

Greetings: Curious about your experiences with voice-dailing features of either the Motorola V505. For either phone:
* Is the voice activated dailing "speaker independent" or "speaker dependent (recorded)?
* How many names/numbers can be stored?

Many thanks,

Is the Samsung x426 really that bad?

Someone on my family just bought one and if it's a horrible phone I want to recommend she return it. I recommended she ask for Nokia but people are so stubborn saometimes. Since she didn't take my advice I'm wondering if I should just let her keep it. If she likes the phone and it's not that bad I would like her to be happy but if it is as miserible as I've been hearing I'll bear the bad news and tell her to return it. If I do, should I recommend the 6010 or the 3595?

Cingular Purchase

Cingular Purchase of AT&T Wireless Nears Approval
WASHINGTON -- The Justice Department and Federal Communications Commission are getting close to approving Cingular Wireless' $41 billion buyout of AT&T Wireless Services Inc. (AWE), creating the nation's largest cellphone company, Tuesday's Wall Street Journal reported.

To address concerns about competition, the agencies are expected to require the companies to sell cellular businesses or spectrum in as many as two dozen geographic markets where their services overlap, according to people familiar with the reviews. About 10 of those divestitures are expected to involve business facilities and subscribers, these people said. The biggest potential problems are in markets in Florida and Tex...

Motorola MPX220 on Oct.22nd?

Does anyone know of the Oct.22nd date for the release of the Motorola MPX220? The date was given by a local AT&T store. This certainly seems like the phone to have, with all of the many features listed. Any more info on the availability of this model?

Seeking info on upcoming phones...

There are many phones planned to be released to AT&T Wireless in the near future (you can look many of them up here at phonescoop on Phone Finder), but the question is when we might see them. Does anyone know what the first phone we might see released in October, will it be this coming week or soon after?

If anyone knows more info on what phones are coming very soon, please post your comments.

Smartphones coming, which one to get?

There are two Windows-based smartphones that are due for release this month, the web site AT&T has is: attws.com/smartphone
One of them is the Motorola MPX220, which I haven't anything good of yet, and the Audiovox 5600 https://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p =585
Is this Audiovox truly a "small" smartphone? It seems like the size of an average Nokia, which would be a great size.
