More Options for Basic Phones?

Hello,

I currently have a smart phone on a family plan with Verizon. I want to downgrade to a basic phone because I hardly use my smartphone. I am up for renewal, but I want to know if I can buy basic phones outside of the actual Verizon store and use it for my family plan.

How would I go about doing this? Where can legit basic phones be purchased online and used for Verizon plans? What are someone the best basic phones out there? I need something with reliable talk/text. A good camera would be an optional bonus.

Thank you.

Extended warranty vs Insurance

I know there are several Verizon employees on this forum, so I'm hoping one of you can explain something to me. Here's the situation:
My son's phone is an iphone 4S. For whatever reason, it has decided that it will no longer charge (tried everything). I have been paying for the insurance as well as the extended warranty. I just called Verizon to see what we need to do and this is basically what I was told.
If the phone failed because of damage (like water) then it will be something like $169 deductable for a replacement phone. If it failed because of faulty equipment, it would be a free replacement thru warranty. Ok..fair enough. BUT, here's the part I don't get. He said that if we submit it as a warranty claim, but they determi...

Anyway to port a number out and get new number but keep plan

I have a unlimited everything plan on my account is there anyway to let my friend port his number out and get a new number on the line he ported out? I'm not trying to lose the unlimited data plan I just want him to keep his number and let me keep the plan. I know that typically when porting out it kills the line but I'm not wanting to lose the line and data. Thanks in advance

Verizon or Sprint

Hey everyone. Just a quick question. I have had Verizon for over 10 years now, and my wife is considering switching to Sprint. She switched jobs and her company phone/personal phone will be disconnected at the end of May. We are thinking of getting a shared unlimited plan with Sprint. I have a Verizon plan that has unlimited data on it, but as most VZW customers know they no longer offer unlimited data plans. If I upgrade any part of my plan I lose unlimited data. That is a huge deal to me since I average 4.0 GB per month data. To purchase that data plan per month from VZW is highway robbery!!!! So I ask is it worth switching? I am happy with Verizon, but if I ever do want to upgrade my VZW phone I have to purchase it full retail or eBay it ...

Me again...switching sides...

Those of you who have followed this board for any length of time know that I spent 7 years working as a Verizon call center rep and over 2 years implementing super-cool antenna systems on military aircraft for Predators drones and stuff like that, but I've moved on again.

Earlier this year, just before graduating with my Electrical Engineering degree with a telecom emphasis. I accepted a Management level career with AT&T (landline) monitoring features on the coast-to-coast fiber optic network.

So I'll still be around phonescoop, but my biases have changed. I just thought I should get that out in the open ( and it's company policy that Managers have to disclose their company affiliation on public web forums).

I'm not quite working o...

I really need a phone today

Long time VZW customer and have never even considered switching till now. I am out of contract and my phone is completely shot. I love the Samsung Charge that I have been using for almost two years but it is no longer functioning.

Like a lot of people I would really like to stay but I do not want to give up my unlimited data, I use about 5-6 GBs per month.

Any suggestions? I really need a functional phone with in the next day or so.

Accessing Simultaneous Voice and Data on iPhone 5

Just wanted to address some false information that is being spread out there, especially with what has been in my experience, a common theme with employees at the Apple Store:

The iPhone 5 cannot access simultaneous voice and data coverage using Verizon's LTE network NOT because the carrier doesn't allow it, but because the iPhone 5 lacks the internal hardware needed to support this capability.

There are many other phones sold for Verizon that contain the hardware needed to allow this functionality.

Although this is old news for most of us in the forums, hopefully it will be useful to a few.

Best phone on Verizon Wireless

What phone would you buy on Verizon Wireless if price did not matter. Verizon will be getting the HTC one soon so that is a contender also.

Galaxy S4

So I read a nice article about the Galaxy S4 and they were saying that for the 16GB version of the phone, most of the internal memory is taken up by more and more bloatware....Why do companies do that instead of releasing the phone with just the OS?
