Sprint drops strongest LTE hints yet

U.S. mobile operator says announcements to be made soon; aims to reuse 800-MHz iDEN spectrum.
Sprint has given the strongest indications to date about adopting LTE to power its high-speed mobile network.

"There is a high likelihood that LTE is in our future in one flavour or another," said Geoff Martin, who heads up the U.S. operator's M2M collaboration centre in Silicon Valley, on Monday.

"Announcements will be made soon," he declared, without giving a specific date.

Sprint has until now used WiMAX technology as the basis for its next-generation mobile network, but with LTE adoption more prevalent among the world's mobile operators the ecosystem for WiMAX is likely to be limited by comparison.

"We don't want to be

best 4g phone for a new smartphone user

Hello all, I am unsure which phone: epic, evo, or nexus s, is an appropriate phone for someone new to smartphones. I have heard the nexus s is better if you want to void your warranty and do crazy things to your phone. It has some interesting features but is it better than the Epic and still ok for a new user? Or is the Evo still a better phone?

I just need the basic email, games, social networking etc. The cameras are not so important to me and a QWERTY keyboard isn't necessary. Bottom line: it should run smoothly without crashing and provide good battery life.

Thanks for your input!

Sprint reports Q1 2011 results, adds 1.1 million subscribers

This seemed relevant to me and as I am cheering for Sprint to stick around it is certainly good news in my eyes.

Clear question

So now that Clear is selling wholesale to Sprint, does that mean soon I will have 4G on my phone, if I live in a area that is currently served by Clear, but not Sprint WIMAX?

new messeging phones

My rumor 2 has too many issues now. I am surprised they will not come out with a 2011 set of new phones. I would get an android, but do not have that kind of money. I think the rumor touch is ok, but i think there could be alot more. Verizon and at&t has way more of the high end messaging phones. Has anyone heard anything for sprint.,http://reviews.cnet.com/cell-phones/l g-rumor-touch-virgin/4864-6454_7-34093844-2.h tml?ord=creationDate+desc&tag=uoBody

Sorry to post this here

Don't know where else to post, I figured this would be the best place. Does anyone know what ever happened to CamelTowing, or DiamondPro? Looks like CamelTowing got banned or something (finally), but DiamondPro's account is still active. I'm jw, I miss some of his responses. Always good for a laugh.

Which 4G phone toggles on fastest?

From experience it seems the average time it takes Sprint's 4G phones to turn on the 4G radio and connect to 4G is about a minute.
Are any quicker, slower?

Nexus S

Anyone know of an official release date for the Nexus S on Sprint? All I can find is that it will be released in the late spring.

MMS delivery question

Ok my only experience with this was with the Epic 4G. I don't know what if any other handsets act this way, hence why I'm asking.

It's known that Sprint's MMS delivery comes through their network and if an Android device is connected to Wi-Fi an MMS won't come through until you turn off Wi-Fi.

What about Blackberries, do they act the same way?
I've used Blackberries on all other carriers and they all receive MMS just fine while connected to Wi-Fi.

I ask cause on top of Blackberries I've used Android devices on other carriers and they all received MMS just fine while hooked up to Wi-Fi. Which leads me to believe it's something to do with Sprint's MMS delivery system.

Echo...not so bad after all

After having played with an Echo on and off for the last two weeks I'm honostly pretty impressed. The hinge is REALLY well done, doesnt feel week in the least bit. The apps work really well across both screens. The "simul-tasking" apps actually add functionality and work as advertised. And the phone itself is quite snappy and hardly noticed any hang ups at all. Oh and its pretty much stock android which was pretty nice of Kyocera not to crap all over it.

? to Sprint smartphone users. . .

As some of you may know, I was with Cingular/ATT for 8yrs, and am currently with Verizon. Verizon, is way, way overrated. Even though they use the same exact CDMA Rev. A technology as Sprint, they brainwash all of America into thinking their "America's most reliable network". But yet I do get dropped calls, and the data on my smartphone does drop from 3G to 1x, which is extremely, extremely frustrating when that happens. EVDO Rev. A is just fine when it works consistently, but 1x data just plain sucks, GSM EDGE is much, much better than 1x CDMA data.

So my ? to Sprint smartphone users, honest people please, not biased employees!!! My ? is does Sprint's network drop from 3G to 1x data frequently?

It would be even better if someone who l...

HTC Evo Shift

Anyone know if Sprint is coming out with any new android devices with a physical keyboard?

I have the Optimus but I HATE not having a keyboard.

Is the Shift keyboard good and how is the phone overall? I am nervous about those touch sensitive buttons on the bottom after the problems with the Intercept.

Goodbye Comcast

Just got myself an overdrive pro. I'm consistently getting 2 to 3 Mbps and peak speeds are much higher. For the same money I get to take my connection with me? See you later Comcast!

Is it really that hard?

I'm a representative for one of the major carriers and I had a very peculiar call saturday. Someone called me with an account and phone number that he has had since 2003. He recently discovered that someone went to a sprint store and had recieved his phone number. So as any representative with any amount of common sense, I called sprint. I spent over 30 mins trying to get some type of resolution.

First, I called into sprint care and asked if the number had put in actually did open an account. I didn't ask for any of that customer's information at all. Just to confirm that what my customer was telling me was true. To ease the reps mind I told him that it pulled open an account on my side and that number had existed for a long time. He put ...
