Ok great - charge me $150 for the Femtocell just like Verizon and I am fine with that. My question is why should I have to pay $20 a month for you to use my broadband connection to help your crappy network? I have been an AT&T customer for 13 years but I just don't understand their thinking. Sorry - my rant is over now...

@xcr, unfortunately this article is not correct. You do NOT have to add the $20 feature. The $20 feature is only if you want unlimited voice calling while connected to the microcell.

Phonescoop has a tendency to "misquote" information on articles mentioning AT&T. Just saying.

Q. Do I need to subscribe to an AT&T Unlimited MicroCell Calling feature?

A. No. While highly recommended for maximum benefit, a subscription to AT&T Unlimited MicroCell Calling is not required. Your normal wireless from AT&T minute plan rates will apply.

$20 is only for unlimited while @ home.

sprint does it as well if you complain to account services...they will waive the charge of the device, and the monthly charges. it isnt just AT&T doing this.

If you sign up for the $20 a month plan then you don't pay $150, you pay $50 because when you sign up for the $20 a month plan you get a $100 mail in rebate. And there is no commitment on the $20 a month plan either.

But having unlimited calls at home for only $20 a month for up to 10 authorized microcell users actually sounds like a pretty good deal to me
