So this must be why HP handed out pay cuts this year. To buy a dying and no longer relevant company 🙄 Android has the opportunity to be the best. Apple knows it, Microsoft knows it, the fanboys defending their ugly ass Palm Pre and Pixi's know it. webOS has no apps, The Pre and Pixi are as ugly as $hit which is why didn't sell. It's over, accept it. Google and Apple FTW!!

Repeat after me class...

webOS is dead
webOS is dead
webOS is dead

HP and their $1.2 billion could have been spent otherwise..and no I won't be quiet, I can say what I damn well please. Learn to handle the truth. Palm sucks. webOS is dead. Get over it and stop trying to make yourself feel better cause you were one of the suckers who bought a ugly ass Pre or Pixi with an OS that has no apps. Google and Apple are laughing and so am I.

I'm with Verizon. Never owned a Palm device. But I still know WebOS is an excellent business platform for mobile phones.

So laugh amongst yourself.

I agree WebOS has done an exceptional job with multitasking and the OS is one of the most revolutionary OS's in years. Apple has a great product but really hasn't made and changes since the iPhone launched. Android is a great OS as well, but can't compete with WebOS at multitasking. Palm's problem was leadership and they made several crucial mistakes when launching the Pre such as going back and forth with Apple about using iTunes. That was stupid. Maybe now that HP will be in control they can take this good platform and make it great! So, as muchdrama stated if you are going to laugh keep it amongst yourself.

The most important part of the smartphone market right now is applications and the OS it runs on. Palm has the following things:

1) A great OS

2) A great SDK

By those metrics:
Palm: 2
Android: 0

Or here's another way to put it: HP is likely to succeed in the mobile realm. Dell (Android) isn't.

I love your ability to present opinion as fact.

As evidenced by sales numbers, plenty of people think Android is a better OS.

As evidenced by number of available apps, the Android SDK works pretty well.

Well thank the lord for someone who actually makes sense cause some of these posters are just plain delusional and in denial. Not mention some overzealous Palm fanboys and random trolls making complete fools out themselves.

Wow, just wow.... I mean i've read some silly things but wow... I can't stop giggling, your post just tickled me... Ok, the "truth" as you call it. HP is a multi, multi billion dollar electronics company. Their purchase of palm, makes it, by definition relevant to the industry. So in short HP's opinion... Relevant, yours... Worthless.

Just keep telling yourself that...but the largest Tech company in the world disagrees with you and spent 1.2 BILLION to avoid Android. That right! They are willing to pay 1.2 Billion to have full control instead of taking Android (which is free) not the mention the money Google pays the OEMs in Search rev to launch Android devices.

Yes Android has over 50k in apps of which a very large amount are lame as hell or Spam. Also how many apps did Android have 9 months after the G1 launched? I know if July of last year the app count was 6k. Did you tell everyone that Android was dead last year because they did not have any apps? Did they launch any good 3D games yet? You have fun with openGL ES 1.0.

Why Android Market Has No Games

Thank you for having some common sense. I have a pre and have never not had an app available to me that a coworker had on theirs. Granted the Pre doesn't have 10,000 noise making apps but who gives a s**t, 90% of the apps that ppl actually use day to day the pre has. And as you pointed out, actual 3D games. Android 2.1 marks what? 2 or 3 years since Android launched and the OS still isn't as smooth as WebOS was at launch 10 mnths ago.
