HP Buys Palm for $1.2 Billion

HP today announced the purchase of Palm, Inc. for $5.70 per share, or approximately $1.2 billion. The transaction has already been approved by the boards of directors of both companies. Palm's current CEO and chairman, Jon Rubinstein, will remain with the company. The transaction is expected to close during HP's third fiscal quarter, which ends on July 31, 2010.

Palm is irrelevant...
So this must be why HP handed out pay cuts this year. To buy a dying and no longer relevant company 🙄 Android has the opportunity to be the best. Apple knows it, Microsoft knows it, the fanboys defending their ugly ass Palm Pre and Pixi's know it. webOS has no apps, The Pre and Pixi are as ugly as $hit which is why didn't sell. It's over, accept it. Google and Apple FTW!!

biased fanboy much??...Palm is one of the most innovative companies around and webOS is amazing. Granted they let themselves get stagnate for a few years refusing to update the old palm OS, but they are great company that's been around for ~20 yrs now...

HP has been wanting to return to bolstering their presence in the wireless industry. Around December, I made mention of HP making news this year. HP has been watching the market very carefully. This is a great move in re-establishing that consumer interest.
Agreed. Especially after the moves by Dell with some seriously sweet new phones this would seem to position HP for a battle royal in the computer/phone market; I like this a lot!!!!

HP iPAQ Glisten is a phone offered by AT&T. I like the phone but not the OS (Win Mo 6.5) if there were a fusion with WEB OS and Win Mo 6.5 i would defenitly try it out so it´s up to HP to decide the future of HP Palm phones 🙂

Why is this bad exactly? The only PCs i've had that lasted more than a couple years were all HPs (except for one's i built myself). Those things lasted forever. Not to mention WebOS is the most solid phone OS i've ever used (yes, i've tried em all) so...
