I already avoid Radioshack because I go there in there, the underpaid staff is desperately trying to shove a cell phone down my back.

I come in for a audio cable and clerk keeps on badgering me and wants me to sign me up for a family plan with new phones.

The audio cable was incredibly overpriced anyways.

I wonder why anyone would shop in that store.

How is that different than a carrier owned retail employee hammering a customer to add data features they don't want or will not use? Or worse yet just adding them without the customer's consent. Talk about over priced, what about the $50.00 cases and the $40.00 car chargers?

We get lots of customers who say they want to check out the carrier owned stores and are right back to do business with us because of the pricing and the pressure. The carrier owned retail employees have extremely high quotas and are pressured to add everything to every customer's account regardless of the customer's intended use of the product.

Our successful sales associates are very well paid. The not so successful ones are not so well paid.

the difference?? Seriously the customer at the T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon or Sprint store. Is in there about their cell service, whether its a problem or to buy new equipment, or to try and get something for free. The customer at Radio Shack might just need an S cable or av equipment and has no use or want for cell phone service, equipment or whatever.

I remember when Radio Shacks main service was electronics, apparently those days are long past. Personally I avoid anyplace that acts like a Carrier branded store, when I just want a cable for my laptop or dvd player.

In what way are cell phones not electronics? The reason why they push cell phones to customers is because they get paid more to sell you a phone than some cable you plan on returning after your done with your weekend project. lets face it, your already in the store, what better way is there to attract your attention to the phones they sell? Most customers over pay for their phones at corporate stores. if anything, you should be thanking rs associates for saving you some money.

well you go ahead and thank them. I will continue to dislike them for calling into me after they manage to screw up a customers account, or when they call in on their own to get customers account "fixed" and they don't even have the customer in the store. I worry for our customers because so many different retail employees and carrier retail employees, and customer service reps have access to their account at any given time. I don't want the girl at walmart to be able to look up my information or the last four of my ssn, or the guy at best buy or radio shack.

Like I said previously, I avoid places like Radio Shack because they aren't providing electronics service anymore, they are providing cell phone sales.

well i apologize that you hate your life working for a call center, but thats what you do; handle customer problems whether a 3rd party did it or not.
dont be upset that they got the sale and you get no credit for it.
most customers have lives other than sitting on the phone for two hours with the call center so they decide to give access information to sales associates. whats the difference between radioshack getting the last four of someones social or you getting it? either person can be malicious about it. it's about ethics, not who they work for.

First of all I don't work at a call center, nor do I hate my life. The concern I stated was for customers information, and in that statement I included customer service reps. I think the option to purchase phones from other retailers is great. I just think in giving best buy, radio shack, wal-mart, costco, sam's club, target etc. access to your address, ssn, drivers license number to purchase new equipment is extreme. That was my statement, there are plenty of retail associates that abuse their access to customer account information and yes customer service reps that abuse their access too.

"Our successful sales associates are very well paid. The not so successful ones are not so well paid."

HAHAHAHAH!!!!! 🤣 🤣

That is classic. I have two employees who were managers at Radioshack and they told me what they made. Both are great sales people and both are making MORE as sales people than they did as a MANAGER at radioshack. They both came from different cities and both were spoken highly of by their DM's. Each has told me horror stories of how they have to work 60 hours a week for a measly $28k a year. They both have told me stories of the constant checklists and the insane pressure to push cell phones sales.

Pathetic really.

I feel sorry for you if you are working for Radioshack.

My point is, I g...

Why does anyone walk into any store anymore? Why doesnt everyone simply shop online? I mean, go to ebay, criagslist, even the carriers online stores offer a discount you cant get in stores (Web Only Discount).

Truth is, people think of customers as 2 types. Buyers and Shoppers. Buyers are in thier to purchase and shoppers are just "shopping around" - "just looking".

Thats not the case though. I believe us consumers to be of 3 types.

Those that need a product, want a product and those simply curious about the prtoduct.

Radio Shack is one of them places that you go to knowing exactly what you want or at least close enough to it that a simple answer to a simple question (example: Whats the difference between S-video and Component Ca...
