Verizon Issues First Set of LTE Specs for Hardware Vendors
Verizon certainly isn't waisting anytime. . .
But what I am really curious about is what real world speeds Verizon will initialy launch the LTE network at.
I'm more curious as to how they will get Voice to work over LTE. That's where the beef is, as the lower frequency penetrates much better than 1.9 GHz.

The bandwidth will support the same number of users regardless of the frequency. The rub is that the 700 MHz will travel further than 850, PCS, AWS, or even WiMax's 2.5 MHz. This results in more potential users being provided service from a particular tower, which means a smaller slice of the fixed bandwidth available.
I must correct you on the first sentence of your post. Higher bandwidth frequencies have a much better handling of capacity. So while you make a good point on distance travel, the more potenteial users acquired by a single tower, will indeed slow down the speeds during high traffic usage. The other issue to keep in mind is that lower frequencies are more prone to interference ...

Just as 800MHz and 1900MHz exist today (many off the same physical site), you can have 800MHz sites every 1/4 mile in urban areas, reusing spectrum, and ~5-10 miles (or more) apart in rural areas.
The higher frequencies are more difficult to use in rural areas due to propegation, and lower frequencies are more difficult to use in urban high density areas for the exact opposite reason. Lowering the power, and tuning does fix the issue of low frequncies in urban areas but on the flip side... there's only so much power that can be used in transmission.
In the end, speeds should be similar, however, I do suspect that LTE will be more popular due to the same of GSM and te...

Friend of mine passed up Verizon for Sprint, with the everything package for a little less, then tells me Sprint is worse than Verizon. It's called you get what you pay for.
How much are you willing to shell out to get what you pay for? Many people live by this mind set and never use the full potential of what was financially incurred on their part.
I think the point is that not one carrier is a bargain in an industry that as become a technological standard today. We all pay way too much! I have not been with out making a phone call very often, And if I can't, That means there is a chance that there is no VZW either. Just my experience since I am on the road a lot. I only pay 15 dollars e...

I’m glad that you get what you need from Sprint. I also completely agree with what you say about getting what you need vs. what everyone else thinks you should have. However Sprint does not give there average customer what they need. This is why they have a net loss of 1.6 million customers a year. The fact also remains that unless you have a BB or talk none stop and need those unlimited min chances are you will be paying more for your service then you would at AT&T or Verizon. Not to mention you will have better service and less billing errors with both and last but not least the only reason Sprint lowered there prices was to compete with T mobile and to stem the customer loss..
