fyi, Verizon started a main steam policy recently that used to be special occasion only. If any line is on a $50 or more per month access for that line, you can do a 2 year renewal on that line and get any phone at the sales price. There can not have been a Contract renewal/phone upgrade in the last 12 months, and you have to be on that price point for the last 3 months. So if your a 9.99 share line, oh well, but you can also use another lines upgrade thats on the account.

I work for Verizon so I have an agent account, and pay $15 a month. So I am not eligable. I don't mind dropping full retail on it though. My guess is it is going to be around $500, which is going to be bearable for the phone I played with. Given it was unlocked, I know that it won't be the same, but it's all good.

My price allowance is $500. So anything less is extra money in my pocket, so if it's around that price, I wouldn't mind at all.

That's only as long as you are signed up for the My Verizon (formerly My Account) online. its a free acct mgmnt set up thats real handy too. I work for the big check mark. it's called an annual upgrade, and your eligible for it after 10 months from last upgrade with the 4 month on $50+ plan caveat. if you wait for the 20 month mark you get the new every 2 credit also.
I played with it yesterday and it's sweet. once you get used to the handwriting recog system its cool. You can order it online or stores can order it via drop ship for you. they'll have em in store next thursday. I'm new to the V and was going to get a Vger, but now i think my mind has been changed

I'm curious as to how the touch screen on this phone is for texting, I seem to have a hard time texting with touch screen buttons, but really want this handset! 😛

It is identical to the iPhone. It has decent size buttons when turned horizontally but the cool thing on this phone is it has scripture writing to text. You can write on the screen and have it translate to text!

😁 You can find more information and buy it online effective today too. Upgrades and new contracts only though...its still not allowing outright purchases. www.vx9700.com and www.verizondare.com has pictures and a link to buy it already.

The only negative that I noticed was the web browser. It is a little difficult to extend/zoom in on a page. When you need to hit the box to type in a password or user name, it is very difficult without zooming in. The steps to zoom are a little tedious.

On the unlocked version I played with, you couldn't. I am sure that the verizon software enables it. The one I played with didn't have voice to text and word on the street is it is suppsosed to. It just gets a little choppy when zooming. But it has Rev-A so, it's quicker than average.

Certain carriers "lock" phones with their own software. Verizon for example, their software is more direct with the features they lock an a phone. Manufactures, such as LG, doesn't have a given software ("unlocked") and gives you the ability to utilize the phone to it's maximum capacity. It sounds weird but some software upgrades, gives them added features (ie voice to text, shortcuts, etc.)
Very similar to having a beta version of something. Trial, to see what works, what needs to be worked on, etc. The alpha version is what we and customers see.

Yeah, sorry. It wasn't branded. I just hope that everything I played with is still on the locked version.

I wish I had a $409 rent! With water and garbage I pay around $670, and that's only for a Jr. 1bdrm (416 sq. ft)
The way prices are going up and the way the economy is I'm a lot more open to a 2 bdrm roommate situation, that would free up at least $250/mo for me. But my lease doesn't expire for another 11 months. I really miss having flexibility in my budget.
