The panels UI is by SOny Ericsson, but the rest of the phone is made by HTC.
Check it out: http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2008/02/10/no-w onder-sony-ericssons-xperia-x1-is-so-good-htc -makes-it/

Explains why it looks so good. I have never wanted a SE phone until today.

Why do people get excited about HTC devices? This company's track record is terrible- It's usually some half arsed execution that promises to be fixed with some future firmware update, or in some cases, whenever their next model comes out (see the recent video drivers issue.)

My guess is Sony Ericsson has slapped on some launcher on a slightly higher-than-normal quality HTC device. I expect a lot of interference with 3rd party apps and resets about once a day. That's a shame, as Sony Ericsson is capable of making some excellent phones.

Exactly, it sounds like someone had a bad experience once. SE devices really aren't that great but this one, (made by HTC or not) looks really promising, if it launches on T-Mobiles 3G (if that ever comes out) I'm getting it.

LOL, I think Sony's are great as well. The UI is rock solid and battery life is wonderful. I've never had an issue with them either. ๐Ÿ˜

This phone combines two of my most favorite companies into one PDA! I'm in love!
