The only problem with verizon phones is the lack of java. You will never see decent web browsing on this phone, or cool programs like google maps or gmail. And of course the verizon ui makes me want to gag. Hardware wise it is very nice though.

Why have Google maps when you can pay for stuff, like a buggy & proprietary VZ navigator? 😳

Or when you can suffer with a crippled mobile e-mail package for $5 bucks a month?

The reason that you will never see it? The universal GUI, thanks Verizon for picking BREW when everyone else is going JAVA you pick the opposite direction. 🙄

Nice device hardware-wise. I stopped caring about Verizon's GUI. Anyone know if this phone has Flash UI or the old red bars UI? I like Verizon's service and network coverage and call quality. Don't care for mobile internet or email and have Tom Tom gps for navigation, if I need it for whatever reason since I don't travel as much and if I'm driving somewhere I never been too before, I consult maps beforehand and use Tom Tom as a backup.

I think you might be behind the times... I believe as of Nov 1st, there's no more $5/month charge for Mobile Web, if you're on one of the new Nationwide plans.

Rather, you just pay for the data you use, at $1.99/MB. Which is a lot cheaper than Sprint or ATT's per MB charge. About time.

He is talking about email. To have email access on verizon phones, don't you need to buy, I mean subscribe to a program called "mobile email" in addition to data charges? $5 a month for the email program, and then data charges.

That is insane. With t-mobile I pay $6 for unlimited data. With this I can use the pop3 email client on my unbranded phone to access as many email accounts as I want. Also can use the java gmail program and have complete access to my gmail account. Full html browsing with opera mini. Google maps which rocks. I can also tether my laptop too. All for $6 a month. Can't beat it.

Verizon is a total rip off of a phone carrier.

That $6 for unlimited data is a complete fabrication, or a very old grandfathered feature.
