Another nickle and diming scheam
Sprint just doesnt get it. I agree with the second post and find their ideas very interesting with the advertising and ranking. i didnt think of that. Im tired of sprint thinking they have to charge for every single service. they would keep more people and attract more people if instead they said: "Hey, we have figured out how to use the GPS in the phone so when your looking for Ruby Tuesdays in another state, it will automatically pick up your location and tell you which one(s) is closest to you, and were not going to charge you anything because we value your buisness" but thats crazy i guess, i mean, far be it from anyone to give anything away for being a paying customer. im almost suprised they didnt want to charge $4.99 instead. for the ...

With falling margins on voice and data, carriers are trying to do anything to capitalize on premium services. When E911 was first talked about, nearly all carriers mentioned that they would try to offset all the expense with premium non-emergency services that use the system.
This is not a new theme. Carriers have been charging for directory service since the beginning of time. Lets not forget the thousands of other premium apps, ringtones, imagery, etc.

I don't understand the logic. The closest correlation I can think of is complaining that your grocery store is doing something wrong and nickel and diming you to death because of the impulse items at the checkout. Should the store give them away for free?
You have a choice, if you want to use the service pay for it. I think it is a good thing to offer multiple options for different people. As consumers we like choice. Just because Sprint is giving it to you are they nickeling and diming you to death? Do you think Sprint gets this service for free?
This is America where people are allowed to make a profit and consumers can choose what they will use if they are willing to pay for it.
Sprint may be more customer friendly because you ha...

I guess "MeAtWork" has never even come close to running a business. He must not understand that if you give things away, that is not called running a business. That is called handouts and charity. 🙄

I don't want to trash MeAtWork. Everyone comes to the table with their own understanding. Many people are appalled that companies charge money for things. Heck I get enough people who want me to buy stuff from them that I want to crawl in a hole sometimes and retire my credit cards.
But business moves on and a good deal is when people benefit from the products and services they purchase. If a LBS is of little benefit to someone they shouldn't feel obligated to take it, they should only buy what will benefit them. Many people see little use to data on their phone. Others use it as the primary way they communicate.
Chances are someone who objects to something is thinking it has value.
