NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😲

If this goes through, you know there's gonna be an increase in Air Rage incidents.

Could you imagine any flight longer than 20min? I'd probably snap.

I hate it enough in bars and trains...now airplanes? Time to buy a cell phone jammer. 😈

You think they'll have a cell free zone on the plane? Kinda like back when they used to have a smoking section. That would be nice.

That's definitely a possibility.

In their meeting today, the FCC commissioners did discuss the issue of people yammering away, but decided (correctly, I think) that it wasn't their place to write courtesy issues into law.

They left it up to the airlines, etc. to set their own rules, and I think that's exactly what will happen. I think "don't yell into your phone" will become part of the standard speech before takeoff, right along with "buckle your seat belt", "keep in mind that the nearest exit may be behind you" and "today's meal is a pretzel crumb".

Hmmm...

Wonder if any Airlines will offer "cell free" flights?

It would be a good idea, especially for those flights at night.

IMHO, I think any flight after 8pm and before 5am should be "cell free".

Or, as Headline News reported, stick 'em in the cargo hold. 😈

I'm not a big fan of HN, but that's not too bad of an idea.

Yesterday, somebody (might have been here, might have been on HoFo) suggested data-only service, ie Blackberry email push, Web surfing, etc... What about VoIP in that case? Wouldn't that technically be data? A slick way to get around a rule like that...

As if I don't have to worry about some Twilight Zone zombie ripping off the wing of my plane (yes, that freaked me out as a kid), now I have to worry about the navigation system failing because some idiot is attempting to SMS his dog.
