hey rich or eric!!!!!!!!

sorry to be a bother...but how does the rokr e2's feel, weight, a size compare to the e1? do the feel simular? how are the "outter" specs in comparison.

with all the added features the rokr e2 is making me think its going to be as heavy as my se s710a. is it or not?
It has a good feel to it. It's a good size and weight, IMO.

There is a side-by-side shot of it next to the E1 in the article:

https://www.phonescoop.com/articles/ces_2006/index.p ... »

The E1 was a reasonably small phone,...

I don't know exactly how they compare with feel, weight, and size but I can guarantee you it won't be much different from the E1.

W810 Does anybody know if this phone will be branded

I was wondering if this phone will be branded by a carrier and if so who? Or will we have to buy it through retail stores?
Does anybody know if the camera has same features as the W800??
I have the W800 but reception isn't good since it doesn't have the 850 band. But love everything else on the phone. Just wondering if the W810 will have some of the same camera features??? Thanks Rox
it will most likely be cingular branded. since the walkman line up is currently a cingular item. you should though be able to buy an unlocked version with no carrier software when the are first released.

Alpha Tag

Anyone else notice that the alpha tag on the LG U320 says Cingular Extend? I though that was a thing of the past. Hmmmmm...

Will
I see that every now and again...mostly with nokia 6340s. Must just be some confusion between the 3G and 2G parts of the phone... 😕
or maybe its a pre-pay or an unactive chip. you do see it on nokia's more often. but i know for a fact if you have a pre-pay or an unactive chip as soon as you walk into an area where a cell signal is repeated it still says cingular extend.
Actually, alpha tags change all the time, who knows when that pic was taken. Considering that is a new phone, it probably isn't set up for consumer use and may therefore roam on a t-mobile tower and may possibly even get the tag when on an AT&T tower...

is it true that Verizon is coming out with Sam A900??

i was reading tuolumne's thread and he/she mentioned that verizon is also coming out with Samsung A900 with MicroSD...is that true?? b/c if it is... hell i'll get it for sure... only reason that i didn't get the blade was it didn't have any card slot.... so correct me if i'm wrong but if it is... SWEET~~ 😁
I don't remember making a thread explicitly stating that, but the A930 is small, though not A900-thin, and has a MicroSD card slot.

Do remember that Verizon might still be getting the SCH-A915, which was qualified with the Bluetooth organization ar...

Samsung Innovation?? 5MP phone by 2006??

CES 2005 sparked the unveiling of the SPH-A800, the US's first 2MP cameraphone.

Where is the innovation this year? Already released Samsung SPH-A900/SGH-T809? A Cingular look-alike (D807). Is the biggest announcement they have a WiFi phone for T-Mobile with no Bluetooth/QVGA? What is this?

I doubt that the yet to be reviewed A930 will be anything more than a Verizon A900 with MicroSD.

Where is the 5MP that Samsung promised by years end 05'? Now THERE'S a question to ask the floor reps Rich....

All in all, this years CES, for Samsung, did not spark the same excitement of 2005. None of these "SLIM" phones make me want to dump my year old now MM-A800- in fact, they really make me realize that 2005 just *might* have been the year o...

I asked about the 5 megapixel phone they promised last year.

An employee I know and trust said they designed it and pitched it to the carriers, but carriers turned it down. Carriers simply don't believe the demand is there for camera phones with th...

Overall opinion is not too hot.

I think Samsung had the best corporate designed phones there, but they are becoming homogenized again....how many black sliders?

However, they had lots of misses, like the "calculator phone" and the a930 was not my cup of tea (and seems pretty fat).

Sony Ericcson and Motorola really had nothing really new there. SE's spinner phones are all beginning to look the same to me too (other than bright colours of the W600).

Pantech and UTStarcom? Man they were ugly, no correct that, fugly. Add the Kyocera strobe, which is a cross between Motorolas old "peanut phone" and LG's fat 9100.

Speaking of LG, I thought they have the most diverse lineup. I really dug that 350 which has a metal interior (although the whole phone should be in bl...

A2DP question

Can this profile be added to a phone already on the market?

I know it would take sales away from future handsets, but it sure would be nice to have A2DP available in a firmware upgrade.
It depends on the phone, but in most cases, no.

It's more likely to be possible with smartphones running OSes like Windows Mobile, but even then I'm not sure it's possible.

Motorola Q?

Any news on this little fella? Plans, dates, carrier, impression etc. Thank you.

Sorry if it was answered already!
The Q should be out on Verizon around March - May timeframe.

They're continuing to tweak the keyboard. It's slightly better each time we see it, but not dramatically different from the first time we saw it. The thumbwheel is slightly larger than be...

Samsung P300

That phone might not be offered for the USA but that makes it's coolness factor all the more exclusive. Good thing it's triband GSM.

Video Calling?

on those new phones, there's no mention of video-calling.I wonder will we have that feature even on that HSDPA samsung?I was looking forward so much for that feature on Cingular just like on other European carriers.Anyone knows if the phones support it?
No, I don't think Cingular has any plans to support video calling on their network or phones - at least not this year. It's not a very practical feature, really.

Motorola only announcing one new phone??

It seems weird that Motorola is only announcing one new phone. I thought that maybe the RAZR V3i would be announced.
Why would they announce the v3i? It was announced at least a month ago and is already being sold in Europe.
There was a motorola news release a few weeks ago that stated they would begin releasing not to long after they are announced (presumable taking a page from apply). I suppose they think it will generate hype about the company..

Rich

this is so off topic, I know, but since you are at CES......have you checked out the Alpine, Pioneer, and other car audio submissions? They usually do something to wow the hell out of me and I was just wondering what was there this year. (I still think that the Scion with the dj booth that slid out the back is still one of the coolest things I've ever seen.)
bot gizmodo and endget are good for this stuff ( i like car audio stuff 😁 ). here's a couple of things:

I UNDERSTAND IT DOESN'T HAVE ITUNES BUT........

can someone please tell me why it has that full note music symbol on the front of this phone? isn't that note or symbol affiliated with itunes? 😕
No, the iTunes symbol is green note with the CD behind it. Moto is just using the green note, no CD, probably to throw people off and make them think it has iTunes, just like you did
Moto is showing off the ROKR E2 with iRadio because they want to promote that, but actually it will support multiple music players, including iTunes. It's up the carrier what music software they want loaded on it. This is straight from Ed Zander at th...
