Kodak Adds Samsung to List of Patent Targets
Eastman Kodak today filed a lawsuit against Samsung regarding digital imaging patents. Kodak alleges that some of Samsung's smartphones and tablets infringe Kodak patents that relate to technology for transmitting images. Kodak filed its complaint with the U.S. District Court for the Western District of New York and is seeking damages. It recently filed similar claims against Apple and HTC.

Qualcomm today said that a Chinese court has granted two preliminary injunctions against Apple subsidiaries. The ruling orders the subsidiaries to "immediately cease infringing upon two Qualcomm patents through the unlicensed importation, sale and offers for sale in China of the iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X."

Qualcomm has taken yet more action against Apple, which it alleges stole trade secrets and offered them to Intel in a bid to improve Intel's modems. This year's iPhones rely solely on Intel modems, rather the a mix of modems from Intel and Qualcomm, in part because Apple and Qualcomm are locked in a legal dispute over patents and licensing fees.
