Today Verizon Wireless showed off a new Casio G'zOne device called the Brigade. This mil-spec rugged device is a sideways clamshell that has both a numeric keypad on the front and a full QWERTY keyboard inside with larger display. It also offers push-to-talk capabilities in addition to having a 3 megapixel, camera with flash, microSD card support, 2.5mm headset jack, dedicated music and messaging keys, Bluetooth and 3G for data. Verizon Wireless said the Brigade would be available in time for the holidays. Pricing wasn't disclosed.

Painful to look at...

what a waste of plastic 🤣
I had a customer tonight who I wanted to give this phone to.

Some spoiled 16 yo complaining that her fancy new touchscreen broke after two weeks, and "companies should make their phones stronger so I don't have to care." Force her to get this one ...

It's not meant to be pretty. It's meant to be rugged. Hard to do both.

I've had a Casio Gzone Type-V for about 3 years now. It has always worked no matter what. Sound quality is great and buttons are easy to press. It's a phone that functions as a phone and doesn't break.

a ruggedized env

Yes, the outside is kinda ugly, but the inside is not bad at all. Seriously reminds me of the env. For folks who don't like the env2 or env3 but can't articulate why, usually its too small or too square or they don't like flat unseparated keys. This phone will be for them.
Hopefully it'll be submersible like the other casio phones? Compared to the Convoy, which looks like a ruggedized LG8360. Good phone, but really whats the point of a ruggedized phone if it isn't water resistant? Thats why people got the boulder instead of the adventure, even though the adventure was a better device. This kind of customer wants water resistance.

looks good but....

What ever happened to the G'zone Rock the FCC had info on back in July. I am guessing (by the drawings) it was an improved version of the Boulder.

By the way the Boulder has an OTA update in the stream version 18. I dont know what it did but it seems to sound a little better then V 15 ( louder and cleaner ). I have the "older Boulder"

Something Different

This looks kinda cool in a different/unique way. Nextel Rugged meets Samsungs Text friendly? Specs aside, Im talking in the visual form, this looks kinda cool.
