Boost Files For Bankruptcy

Dish Network has filed for bankruptcy. The business is just one part of EchoStar, but includes both Boost Mobile and the company's Dish television business. The company invested in cellular radio spectrum for decades without building a network. When T-Mobile merged with Sprint, Dish took over the Boost brand and promised the FCC, as a condition of the merger approval, that they would establish Boost as a full fourth national network operator. Then last year, Dish gave up on that project. Dish's financial roadmap this year was tied to a planned sale of radio spectrum licenses to AT&T. An unexpected delay in that sale has forced the bankruptcy.
