dude, calm down. shouldn't you have just put your old sim into the new phone anyway? if you're replacing a device it shouldn't be a port.

Storm on T-Mobile?

So on Verizon's "world" blackberries, is there normally a setting or some kind of way to force the phone onto a GSM network even if a CDMA network is available? I'm honestly not interested in switching to Verizon, but should I find a way to lay my hands on a Storm despite that, I'd prefer to use it on T-Mobile... it has all the right radios, I just am not sure if it's worth the bother if there's no way ...

You can't, unless you change your Normal profile to be silent.

ah, that's not a GSM phone, i'm talking about unlocking so you can use any carrier's SIM card in your phone... sounds like you're using CDMA, which is a whole different story. as for unlocking so like, you can use the phone, I can't help you there, you'll need to contact your service provider a reseller is someone who does just that, they re-sell someone else's service.. for example, virgin mobile resells sprint pcs, because virgin mobile phones connect to sprint's ...

the IMEI is located under the battery or by pressing *#06# Also, is MetroPCS a reseller for anyone? I don't see any mention of them in my unlocking code calculator.

there's no point in unlocking sidekicks since most of their features won't work on other carriers

I can get you a code, I'll need to know your phone's IMEI, your location and your carrier.

Flashing 6800
Mar 9, 2005, 5:08 PM
in the Nokia forum

Greetings fellows, I've recently bought a Nokia 6800, which I have a feeling will have AT&T's software on. I'd like for this to have the generic unbranded software if possible, and I'm not adverse to spending another $50-60 in cables and/or software... the phone IS unlocked, but I have no idea how to go about flashing it, or where to get the software to do so. Could anyone shed some light?

you could try the *#3001*12345* thing, which'll let you change/view the security code... might only work on older models though

Samsung e315 question
Mar 1, 2005, 1:22 PM
in the T-Mobile forum

I've got a samsung e315 with t-mo, and I was wondering if anyone knows how to reset the T9 dictionary? It's started acting funny, now "I.m" is default rather than "I'm" when pressing 416, among other things. Restting to factory default settings doesn't seem to help. Thanks!

well, if you talk a lot, you should get a proper contract plan. I use t-mobile now, if something bad happens and I can't pay for it, I can get around the contract fee by dropping all of my special services and selecting the basic $19.99 plan, which is considerably cheaper.

Should be able to do this by assigning groups, if the e317 is anything like the e315. on the 315, you can assign groups by going to the phone book and set names/tones in the group edit, and then move people into groups by using the search thing

samsung e315 t9 dictionary

in the Samsung forum

Is it possible to reset the T9 dictionary on this phone? The reset to factory settings doesn't seem to work, but it's got some annoying quirks now... like, typing 416 now yields "i.m" instead of "i'm" For what it's worth, I do have the datacable.

wireless internet workaround

in the Virgin Mobile forum

Anyone know of a way to get at the rest of the internet, rather than just the virgin xtras thing? I'd think there'd be a setting deep in the service menus or something that could be changed so one would connect to Sprint's portal, rather than virgin's, and thus possibly providing for a way to get to the 'entire' internet.

okay, I don't really plan on using it that much, as far as I know, a kylobyte goes pretty far with wap, I really just want to play with it to start. If I were to connect my Palm to my phone via IrDA or a data cable, would it be able to get at the internet then? I seem to remember having laptops dial 99# or something and that connected to the mmode thing. Or, is that somehow ...

Re: mmode and gophone

I'm new to wireless internet, T-Mobile's prepaid only offers "tzones" which only allows access to certain stuff. I'm trying to find a way to get at the entire internet without needing to sign up for a contract plan. If that's impossible, I'll get a low level plan with T-Mobile.

mmode and gophone
Jun 3, 2004, 7:51 PM
in the AT&T Wireless forum

Does the mmode with gophone allow for use of the entire internet? as in, can I visit any wap site? Or is it just AT&T Wireless's intranet and a couple popular services? Also, could I connect my Palm PDA or laptop to my phone with gophone service, either via infrared or data cable i s'pose, and be able to use mmode to access the internet?
