My test revealed it switched to Roaming (ROGERS Wireless-Canada) as I drove around Belle-Isle along the Canada-facing side, but quickly switched back to MetroPCS near the Yacht Club. I didn't have funds on MetroConnect so the call dropped.

My first post gives the website with a picture and all the information about the phone. I believe it's supposed to come out this month, but always push back an extra month for testing -- you know Metro.

I agree. the only showstopper would be for MetroPCS to lock it down too tightly as they often do. It's Windows Mobile which should allow users to install free apps outside of @metro but I doubt that will happen.

Re: NEW PHONES

Well, you know MetroPCS just came out with a few Smartphones and a TouchScreen. They want to see how those sell first before investing in more. Why spend money on something that won't sell?!? Give it a little time and we might see something new around Thanksgiving/Christmas.

Remember when everybody talked about these phones coming out around Thanksgiving then pushed back just in time for Christmas then coming out for the New Year and then the end of February and now Low & Behold... May -- already the second quarter of 2009. Let me make a prediction... ummmm, pushed back just in time for Back-To-School, then Thanksgiving again.

We can eliminate the Blackberry right off the bat. I'm still trying to make the connection between the Moto-HINT and MetroPCS. Everyone is saying it's coming, but I can't seem to confirm this with anyone and don't want to hear, "a reliable account rep told me". I just went to craigslist in my area and found a Sprint HTC Touch (vogue 6900) and had it flashed to Metro by some of the same people on craigslist. ...

Also, Dec19th the Samsung R310 was released another crappy basic flip phone with rounded corners Color=RED. Nothing to call home about.

Re: the motorola hint is coming to metro - URBAN LEGEND

URBAN LEGEND -- Metro is still pushing candybar and RAZR type phones. Best advice to Flash a HTC Touch and have someone add the MMS & Internet features. Every city have someone like Pookie or RayRay who will do the Houdini software work for about 20 bucks.

Yeah, just an Urban Legend since I've been a customer back in 2006. Every year around this time we hear there's a new SmartPhone/PDA, but Metro's network is not set up for all that yet and then we're all disappointed to see a candybar phone with a slide out cheezy keyboard. And I'm a MetroPCS Fan!!!

PossibleMetroAssociate sounds just like a typical Metro AzzWype reciting trade agreements, etc. This is a "FORUM" for knowledge sharing that apparently customers are NOT getting from MetroPCS. I don't think anybody is doing any Insider Trading (like metro really have something to trade). To be honest, it's good to have a REAL associate who can keep us up-to-date and informed because the web site sure doesn't -- and I signed up for updates back in 2007 ...

Nope. Unfortunately, MetroPCS isn't big enough to handle volumes of text messages to be retrieved on a whim for those who wish to retrieve old, much less, deleted messages. Sorry, but that's the way it is.

Re: Need Help about new phones

First, Metro doesn't offer phones for $250+ because they are working on adding new Markets as well as updating their networks. They keep their phones under $200 because people have been complaining about the high cost of the devices. No cell company comes out of the gate offering high-end phones, so we're out of luck there -- maybe in a year or 2. Smartphones are not in Metro's immediate future (hint: still updating their networks), so a ...

I agree about the low cost for unlimited features -- MetroPCS is a great deal! Metro doesn't have an act to get together, they are actually switching from a low-end network to a higher-end network. U can't start off by offering the Universe. I know my first car was NOT a BMW or Benz.

Re: WHEN IN THE HECK?!?!!?!?

Well, first MetroPCS will need to establish the network that will host those types of phones. Metro is new compared to some of the old dogs who's been in the game for 10+ years. Remember they didn't start off with touch screens either. Remember the non-color LCD screens with the blue or green back light? MetroPCS is setting up the AWS network to allow better & faster internet, voice, and video, so it's going to be ...

No. You all know it's not the end of MetroPCS. Just like car manufacturers... you just have a variety to choose from like GM, Ford, Toyota, Chrysler... each have something CRAPPY but they are all still in business. -JayRizzo (DETROIT)

Well, I think I know what they were typing... I believe they're an Authorized Dealer. I think they call this UPPER/lower Case typing Cyrillic or something... it's a bit hard to read, but it's all good. Just glad to hear someone finally have some concrete news about phones for the Holidays. -Jay

Well, it would be VERY NICE if u can use one of the MetroCAMERA Phones to take a snapshot of the R410 since most of us are just GUESSING what it looks like. Set up a FREE site GEOCITIES or something where we can view the phone. -Jay (DETROIT)

Yeah, well us MetroPCSers have been pretty patient... I still have the V266 from the 1st Wave of phones they offered upon launching in Detroit 04/2006. I know some of these folks can look up a SAMSUNG model from the SAMNSUNG website or just GOOGLE it for a picture. Also, if someone mentions AROUND a timeframe, let's just stick to that... none of us have an EXACT launch date -- we don't WORK for MetroPCS... just making ...

I just heard this model is to be released around Thanksgiving 2007. So far, all of these release promises have not been reliable in these forums, so I REALLY pressed the issue when I was talking to the "UNDERGROUND" reps (the ones who are NOT supposed to release confidential information, but the world wouldn't be the same if they didn't). -JayRizzo (DETROIT, MICHIGAN)

Compatible Carriers?!?
May 29, 2006, 8:15 AM
in the Metro forum

Since M-PCS is new in certain areas only, I can't join many phone groups or receive selected alerts. Are there any compatible carriers that can be used in place of MetroPCS to receive these alerts? They are usually listed in drop-down selections.
