Re: Moto misses the mark... again!
If you love Moto so much, why don't you jack off all over your crap Moto phone.
Re: Moto misses the mark... again!
Wow, one of the million idiots who prefer to spend $$$ on crap. Have fun rebooting your phone 2x a day and dealing with viriuses and spyware. Stupid fool.
Moto misses the mark... again!
No EDGE. Screwed up keyboard. Windows mobile. All deal killers.
When I first saw stories on this and saw the pics at my local Cingular store, I thought I finally found the perfect phone. Now I could consolidate my iPod, Nokia 6620, and Zaurus into a single device for work. But now, I think I'll just suffer with my 6620.
For a serious PDA/phone, it needs EDGE. Straight GPRS doesn't cut it. The keyboard does ...
Re: NO HIGHSPEED GPRS Solution!!!
Obviously he's talking about EDGE which is basically a layer on top of GPRS. My class 8 EDGE phone delivers up to 118Kb/s. Class 10 is around 200kb/s+. I believe that would qualify as highspeed for cell networks as only the new Verizon network is faster (300-500Kb/s)... and that's only available in limited areas in the US.
Does this phone support Perl?
I saw that Nokia was going to start supporting Perl on their handsets in addition to Java. Is this one of those phones? I'd much prefer to develop in Perl than J2ME/MIDP, but I guess it won't kill me if I can't.
Thanks
Re: what is up with this design
Listen, c*cksm*ker, I know infinitely more about this industry than you do. I actively write software for cell companies and cell phone manufacturers, so don't tell me I don't know what the hell I'm talking about.
I doubt you have thousands of contacts to store on a phone. Based on your posts here, you are far to belligerent to be a successful salesman.
And no, I am not NokiaTech... although I'm flattered to be associated with someone who is ...
Re: Bluetooth?
Does anyone know if a SD bluetooth card would work with a phone like this? I have had several bluetooth phones (most currently the SE Z600) and love the wireless headset and the ability to use the phone as a wireless modem with my Clie UX-50 and Powerbook. I could live w/o a wireless headset, but really need to be able to use the phone as a (wireless) modem.
I really like Samsung's PDA phones, but w/o bluetooth ...
Re: Dissapointed in Motorola & this phone
I'm also really disappointed. As a phone, I thought it was pretty good. But for the price you pay and then you have to pay even more to enable dial-up networking, I was pissed. I've owned 5 other bluetooth phones and never had to buy more software to use the bluetooth for anything except file transfer and headset use.
Also, the back cover keeps coming off. The button on the bottom never really clicks on well ...
Bluetooth expansion cards
Anyone know if a bluetooth SD card will allow you to use this phone as a modem via bluetooth? Would it also allow you to use a bluetooth headset?
Seems like on some of the older smartphones phones you could slip in a card and it would enable dial-up networking via bluetooth, but you could not use a bluetooth headset.
It'd also be nice if it'd be compatible with iSync.
Lots of nice Samsung Smartphones coming to market... too bad they ...
Re: what is up with this design
Argh!!! You just don't understand what a smartphone is, do you?
NokiaTech is 150% correct. Smartphones are not just phones powered with some Microsoft mobile OS. Symbian OS, Palm OS, Linux (if there are any currently) powered phones are most definitely in the smartphone category. I suggest you read up on those links NokiaTech sent and educate yourself.
Second, you said it yourself... you want a good quality phone where you can store all of your contacts. ...
Re: v710 vs v810
Actually, bluetooth uses microwave frequencies and not IR. Bluetooth is more akin to 802.11 WiFi than to IR since it does require direct line of sight to transfer data.

Re: what is up with this design
You don't make any sense. You keep talking about wanting a phone first, well then buy a phone. Most people in the market for a smartphone are going to be tech people who are going to want bluetooth and the other "whizbang gadetry" and can live without caller ID on the outside.
I had the Samsung A400 for 18mo and went to plenty of meetings with it. I had a swivel case and could easily and discretely ...
Re: what is up with this design
I totally disagree. I work in the IT field and at our shop we all have either a PDA phone or a BT phone and PDA/laptop. Caller ID is nice, but none of us really care. And, I really doubt someone who is looking for a phone first is going to shell out $500-$600+ for a PDA phone.
What's more of a concern to those of us who use PDAs regularly to stay connected is a choice ...
