Dissapointed in Motorola & this phone

I have to say I am very dissapointed in Motorola & this phone. I am on my 3rd one and this phone has too many flaws both phisically and software. One of the managers of one of the larger stores for AT&T in CA who is a friend of mine warned me about this phone before it came out. I should have listned. I really believe that Nokia is the place to be. I am going to go to the 6620 when it comes ot for AT&T. I think Motorola who used to stand for quality has seen its better days.

How about some details? What don't you like about it. I think it is one of the best phones I have ever had. Just curious what problems you are having.

I'm not sure what problems he's having, but I'm on my 2nd phone right now and probably will be on my 3rd before the end of the month. My first phone had software glitches. Then they sent me a replacement and I noticed the other day that it has software glitches and freezes too. Oh well..

I have two gripes with this phone. First, I can't trust it to store messages in a timely manner. I had seven messages on Monday, but my phone didn't chime until Tuesday. I called 611 and was told that I should turn the phone off daily to make sure the software refreshes. Second, despite the fact that I'm in GSM saturated LA, I have less coverage than I had before. I thought this phone was a step up in coverage, not down.

I'm also really disappointed. As a phone, I thought it was pretty good. But for the price you pay and then you have to pay even more to enable dial-up networking, I was pissed. I've owned 5 other bluetooth phones and never had to buy more software to use the bluetooth for anything except file transfer and headset use.

Also, the back cover keeps coming off. The button on the bottom never really clicks on well to the battery and it's easily depressed.

No IR was disappointing, but I can live with that feature missing.

Phonebook sucked.

Dunno. This is my second Moto phone and the second time I was disappointed. And my experience has been that the phone itself was pretty good, but it's the additional features that either suck or...

What are you talking about? You don't need to pay anything to "enable dial-up networking"... When you pair the phone with the PC, it should create a DUN Gateway for the phone which you can use for dial-up connectivity.

As for my impression of the phone... It's very good IMHO! I have owned it for well over a month (AT&T version, running unlocked on T-Mobile) and no problems at all! Sure there could be some improvements, e.g. ring + vibrate at the same time, better phonebook, pretty sucky camera (at least on the unit I have), external ring when using the bluetooth headset... etc. But nevertheless except for these minor issues I really like this phone and I'd recommend it to anyone.
