Re: Android ICS release
It's not that I'm super hesitant, I just don't want to deal with a mountain of issues. The T-Mobile rep said now that the patch has been put out it is being advised to update because otherwise I won't be ready for the next update which is JellyBean.
Mainly I am asking to get a sense of whether or not the patch resolved all the quirks and if people were happy overall with ICS. As it ...
Re: ICS Upgrade
I was told earlier that there were issues by TMobile reps but those seem to be resolved with subsequent patches. I called into TMobile today for a different issue and was advised by the rep that I definitely need to update to ICS. Previous responses in the the phonescoop forums still make me hesitant thus any any and all opinions, thoughts, suggestions welcome.

Future for Galaxy Owners
It is still fresh news but I am wondering what this "victory" means for Samsung lovers who own any of the Galaxy phones. In South Korea my understanding is that Samsung has to stop selling the GS II. Any thoughts?
Re: Protective Film Suggestions?
Thanks for the info! It appears they don't carry this product for my device (Samsung Galaxy S II, TMobile) but I'll keep it in mind for the future.

SMS App Recommendations
Hello,
I just got a new Android device (TMobile, Samsung Galaxy S II) and have been researching SMS apps but cannot really tell them apart. Any recommendations for a good SMS app?
Also, for the tech wizards here, how does one override text messaging going through one's carrier vs. an SMS app? Thus far I have looked at Go SMS Pro and IM+. I am aware of KikMessenger but something about it doesn't sit right with ...
Phonescoop Alternative
Is it my imagination or has the traffic on Phonescoop decreased dramatically? I used to get rapid responses to questions and concerns I posted in the forums but not the as much anymore... Have people migrated to other venues, forums, boards, sites? It would be really helpful to know where to go to get the most up-to-date information from active users and those in the know.
Protective Film Suggestions?
Does anyone have a protective film on their device, and if so, which brand? I had my device waterproofed (Liquipel) and they also applied Gadget Filmz to the screen but less than a week after getting it back two air bubbles have appeared thus I am looking for an alternative though I was sent a replacement by the company but the application process looks like too much work.
Device Protective Film Question
Does anyone have a protective film on their device, and if so, which brand? I know TMobile sells a couple in store but I can't discern one brand from the other...

ICS will Jack up your phone:
1. Caused issues with VPN
2. Navigon
3. SimCity
4. CoPilot Live
5. Freezes phone when a call comes in and sometimes you cant answer.
6. Alarm Clock is now a hit and miss.
Go to the Tmobile Forums tons of issues.
I had to stop in a TMobile store recently and was told by the rep that they delayed the launch because of issues and the kinks should be worked out before end of July...

Carrier IQ Question
Hello,
So I recall there being a brouhaha in the tech world earlier this year about Carrier IQ but in all the articles, blog posts, etc. I do not recall what the final word was on the issue and what, if anything, device owners can do.
I just got a new smartphone and downloaded an app which detected Carrier IQ was on my phone. What can I do about this and should I worry about it?
BTW, I have ...

Re: DONT DO IT
8O Thanks for the advice... Hopefully these are just initial glitches and once they get fixed I can upgrade as I am presuming support for Gingerbread will be phased out over time.
ICS Upgrade
Hello,
My understanding as of last week was TMobile was pushing out the ICS release for this phone but I haven't seen the alert show up on my device.
Has anyone gotten the ICS update? If so, how is it working for you?
Re: Can anyone provide assistance?
What is KIES?
Can anyone provide assistance?
...or point me in the direction of a book, magazine or website where I can learn how to deal with an OS upgrade smoothly?
No TMobile people with insider info???
Hello...
No thoughts/opinions???
Wow...quite forum.
Android ICS release
Anyone here have any TMobile insider info on whether or not the ICS release is definitive for 5/15? My device, Samsung Galaxy S II, is on the list to get the upgrade.
Re: ICS
How hard is it to convert from Gingerbread to ICS or OSes in general?
I have a Samsung Galaxy S II and current reports are that TMobile is going to push out ICS upgrade for this phone next week. For one I am guessing I may not have the choice whether or not to upgrade but as this is my first smartphone device all of this stuff is new to me.
New S II owner...should I be upset about the S III?
So my antique flip Nokia died a slow death earlier this spring leaving me no choice but to get a new device immediately and to keep me from jumping ship TMobile retention gave me a great deal on the SII. I am more than a little bummed    to see an "upgrade" to my brand new phone coming out so soon after getting the S II in my hands.

Case for T-Mobile G S II
Anyone have any experience with or opinion of Ballistic cases? Otterbox is of course the gold standard but it seems that have decided to leave T-Mobile G S II owners out in the cold by not making an Otterbox for the T-Mobile version (WTF?!?!?!?).
Ballistic Cases
Anyone have any experience with or opinion of Ballistic cases? Since it seems clear that Otterbox is not going to make a case for the T-Mobile version of the G S II (WTF?!?! It seems like Otterbox caters completely to the Apple "gods" and everyone else is SOL)   I have to accept reality and find an alternative.

Re: Will it upgrade to 4.0 ICS
Anyone have any new info on the ICS upgrade? I have been following the blogs and it looks like ICS is rolling out to the device overseas. I know the U.S. is always last :x in these roll outs but one can always hope and dream.
