Too little too late
They'd have to do far more than just enabling FM radio on phones. The broadcasters (I'm looking at you, Emmis) would have to remove 75% of the advertising and other aural garbage that they spew out over each hour for me to even be interested in tuning back in to their programming.
Turned them all off
Was getting Amber alerts at all hours for missing children 3 hours away. They've also started interrupting radio broadcasts around here that activate the EAS tones, these have reached such a status quo that I don't care about your missing kid anymore and I don't feel sorry for you when your ex-husband kidnaps your little brats. When the radio comes on with an EAS alert I just change the station. Yeah, during the 1 in 1,000,000 ...
I enabled scam protection and a few days a week I still get these annoying "Resort Rewards Center" robocalls from random phone numbers from the same area code/prefix as my cell phone number. The scammers always find a loophole to work around the system. The lazy FCC needs to get off their asses and enact some legislation to fix this mess.
Another half-baked feature
Not surprising. Everything Samsung does is a knock-off attempt to copy Google or replace Google's original software with some lazy attempt at some half baked spyware/data collection service. No thanks! I'd rather give Apple my money any day.
Re: And once
The makers of the cell site equipment must love them too. Sprint as well. Which makes me wonder, they just got a big chunk of their network upgraded for 700 mhz support. I wonder how much equipment they will have to recycle when they install the 600+700+1700+1900 hardware.
Re: Penetration is the key!
Don't expect them to suddenly put up a bunch of cell sites just because they have a license there. It might be years until that happens.
Re: Dropped prices
In my area it is horrible. Even when you are on a lightly loaded, uncongested cell the voice codec is extremely conservative. Only Verizon 3G has worse call voice quality.
Re: BYE BYE ASURION AND OTHER CELL PHONE INSURANCE COMPANIES...
Not so fast. Squaretrade is a better value and in most cases you can get instant gratification with them too. In most cases a 3 year protection plan for $100 or less, and a brand new or certified refurb'd device with a similar deductible. I've had multiple iPhones switched out at the Apple store under my Squaretrade plan and they mail me a check within a few days of receiving my receipt. Yeah I have to pay ...
Just another way to get people to buy a brand new iPhone rather than consider a used one. Ugh.
Does Hulu still suck?
I tried Hulu a couple years ago and was frustrated that I was only allowed to watch Seasons 3 & 4 of (insert Show Name here) at the time. It wouldn't let me watch Seasons 1 or 2 of (insert Show Name here), so I resorted to torrents to illegally acquire content what they wouldn't even let me pay for or watch ads in order to view. Today my cable company (insert Big Greedy CableCo Name here) has ...
Bring back SMS delivery confirmation??
Back in the day I had an old flip phone that would give me SMS delivery receipts whenever a text was successfully delivered to its recipient. Where did that go???
Nothing surprises me anymore
Sleazy companies collecting your personal, intimate data and selling it to the highest bidder. Business as usual.
Re: NO2 Wireless
I've found that PureTalk has the best customer service of the AT&T MVNO's.
Wonder why they would pick an oddball name the likes of USA's 3rd largest railroad operator.
Is the Pixel going to be the replacement for the Nexus? How long will it take before Google realizes that their own hardware isn't profitable and then spins it off toward another Chinese acquisition (a la Motorola)? History just seems to repeat itself over and over.
Maybe they should start with the radio alert system
Last week, was listening to the NPR FM station and got alerted on subsequent days to Amber Alerts in cities 100+ miles away from me. Now, on a typical day I immediately change the station when I hear those annoying, freaky EAS tones interrupt my radio station, because 99% of the time it's a test or a missing child, never an actual emergency. Now, on one or two particular occasions I've heard emergency alerts go out ON SELECT ...
Time to break AT&T up again
AT&T stock was only down 0.34% on the news. Then again it was a bearish day on Wall Street.
I'm still running 9.3.5, nothing been forced on me at all. Actually in iTunes I was able to downgrade a device from iOS 10 back to iOS 9 because I don't like the new version. I wish they'd continue on the iOS 9 version chain and release 9.3.6 or 9.4., but fat chance of that ever happening.
Does this include prepaid TracFone mvno customers?
Stereo audio recording?
I'd love it if the iPhone 7 used its microphones to produce stereo audio in movie recordings. I doubt Apple has implemented this 2008-era technology, though.
All I want to know is, how will 28000 MHz spectrum affect the number of cell sites required to serve that frequency? T-Mobile has made such great strides lately by overlaying 700 MHz LTE on top of their 1700/2100 MHz LTE, but I'd guess with 28 GHz cell sites they'd have to place antennas at every single intersection to give coverage.
4 more years of EDGE.. Ugh.
They could've been refarming their 1900 GSM space into LTE during their 700 and 1700/2100 upgrades, but instead they're going to keep up 2G for the 5% of their customers/IOT devices still on their network. I'm still getting EDGE in many rural areas or roaming on AT&T 2G even where their coverage maps show LTE being deployed. I really doubt their claims that they are going to see an increase due to at&t 2G churn. Probably ...
Re: Downloaded It
This does not surprise me. Apple has adopted mediocrity as their status quo in the past few years. Adding tacky new features like iMessage doodles while failing to refine or fix any of the existing features/shortfalls. For example the Control Center (Added in iOS7) has barely changed or been enhanced at all. I've been asking them to add a button for the Settings menu for years and still, they refuse to add anything or customizability to the Control ...
Wish they would just make the battery 1-2mm deeper and make the stupid camera flush with the case. Does anyone really need their phone to be as thin as a cracker?
Re: Qualcomm Software Flaws Leave Many Android Phones Vulnerable
Or just use Apple products...
Re: Then they wonder....
Not really. China has been living in their own giant economic bubble for the last couple decades. What goes up always goes down.
How are the physics of a 28000 MHz RF signal from a cell tower? What kind of coverage range are we talking for this theoretical 5G spectrum? Would they have to put a Cell tower on every street corner or in every bedroom? (Verizon is pretty much doing that everywhere around here for their 1700 MHz LTE anyway)
Re: No More Free Pizza
Pizza is pizza. But I like Domino's so much more than Papa John's. This is a bummer. At least I got two free delicious pizzas out of it.
They are really scraping the bottom of the barrel now...
Pretty impressed with this company
A year or two ago I was pretty dissatisfied with T-Mobile's lack of 3G and LTE services in rural areas an hour outside the major city I live in. I switched to Cricket and AT&T for the time between and came back to T-Mo last month with a new smartphone. I can say they have done a complete turnaround, in places where I barely had service before I now have a usable LTE signal. It may ...
not showing up for me
version 5.5.0 from 4/27/16 is still showing up as the latest version for me. maybe i don't have access to the cutting edge app store.
That is a plethora of 850/1900mhz spectrum that can go toward LTE. This will greatly improve performance in the many areas they are already saturated in their Band 17 and Band 4 deployments...
A useless feature
Great, now users can make annoying Snapchat-like broadcasts.
Re: So it's really $500
I would've been fine with a 32GB base model, but a 16 GB storage isn't worth the shiny aluminum frame it's in. Not to mention it's nearly impossible to find a 64GB model in stock anywhere. I'm on the verge of abandoning the Apple ecosystem after many years of loyalty
64GB Out of stock everywhere
Been calling around to all the stores in my area and there is a 2 week minimum backorder on the 64 GB SKUs. Apple, once again shooting itself in the foot by releasing an inferior 16 GB model, 2 of the 4 colors are completely unnecessary as well...
Good analysis on the subject. The whole San Bernandino thing smells to me of a psy-op. As usual there is a lot of information being withheld from the public and millions of public dollars and other resources being wasted on the investigation.
No night shift on older iPhones
I have a 5C that won't support Night Shift. Until today that was the only reason I was anticipating 9.3. Apple yet again shows their arrogance... My 5C supports greyscale and screen color inversion without a hitch in the accessibility preferences, yet my phone isn't powerful enough to warm the color temperature on the screen. My Windows XP computer from 2003 has the capability to choose a warm color temperature, Apple is just ridiculous these days.
The article mentions the 6(s)(+) line of iphones but not the new SE, is that a deliberate omission?
And Apple will still be putting out entry level 8GB/16GB iPhones
That's pretty sad.
