Using a Windows Phone Offline?
Apr 13, 2016, 3:40 PM
in the Windows forum

So, I'm wanting to find a windows phone 3rd party without ever setting it up on an actual network. I'm solely wanting it just to play Windows Games while on a WiFi network. Can this be done relatively easily? Would this require anything special outside of being set up on a WiFi network? Are there any models that are better/worse for this? Any assistance that could be offered would be appreciated. Thanks!

Sprint vs AT&T; Prepaid versus contract
Jun 7, 2012, 4:18 PM
in the Article: Virgin Mobile USA to Sell the iPhone June 29 forum

A few questions. I have a contract 3gs through AT&T right now, overpaying and tired of them. Roughly $90/mo for minimal minutes and moderate to robust internet usage (grandfathered on unlimited data plan, who knows for how long) after taxes. I've been out of contract for a year + now, was thinking of upgrading as of late. Does the price above include taxes and fees? I've never done prepaid before, but it's looking more and more intelligent to do so especially ...

Saving contacts on a Vibrant?
Apr 5, 2012, 8:31 AM
in the Samsung Vibrant (Galaxy S) forum

So, I work for a company who had a cell phone out to an employee, who has now become an ex-employee. There was a passcode on the phone, and he has not advised us as to what it is. There are a lot of contacts and what not on said phone, and we kind of need them. A)Is there a plausible method, T-Mobile sponsored or otherwise, that we can get this information? B)If we were to switch phones and the SIM ...

Changing the lock button?
Mar 20, 2012, 9:36 AM
in the BlackBerry Bold 9900 forum

Is there a way to change the lock button on this phone? I'm having a significant problem with it going off in my pocket after locking. Not neccesarily changing the location, but anything that would help. Adding another step to unlocking, password, etc. would do the trick. Thanks for any help you can provide!

Doh, never mind, I thought I had clicked to the Bold 9900 page, not the main carrier page... *sigh* sorry. Please delete. Will post in proper area.

Changing the lock button?
Mar 20, 2012, 9:33 AM
in the T-Mobile forum

I was wondering if it's possible to change the assignment of the lock button on this phone? I am having a real problem with it going off in my pocket after locking it... Maybe not just changing to lock button, but adding a step or a password to unlock or something just so it doesn't hinge on that one button. Thanks for any help you can provide!

Saving apps after an HD Wipe
Dec 23, 2010, 11:52 AM
in the Apple iPhone 3GS forum

So, a while ago, I wiped my HD disc clean. It was catastrophic failure mode, and needed to give it a good scrubbing... I didn't really have a whole lot of "Gee, I should save this" time before it happened. Thus, everything that's on my Iphone is more or less an orphan. There's no files on my computer whatsoever. I had to redownload Itunes, so there's no memory whatsoever of anything essentially. The music is one thing, if that can't be ...

Turning off an Iphone without using the top button? Possible?
May 5, 2010, 10:22 AM
in the Apple iPhone 3GS forum

Basically, the top button on my iphone (which locks and turns on/off the phone) has ceased to work a few weeks ago. Restore done and nothing doing... Is there a way to turn my iphone off that doesn't require using that button? I'd like to reboot the thing, as it's been searching for a signal for the last hour, but I'm not sure I can without simply draining the battery... If anybody has any ideas, let me know. :-)

in the Cricket forum

So I wanted to ask, before I got involved with Cricket in any capacity, what should I be concerned about? I've heard things about fees for paying bills, and calling customer service and what not, and I just wanted to substantiate all of these "hidden concerns" before I did anything. Could any of you offer some insight into some things you've experienced with Cricket that you weren't anticipating? Thanks!

Internet Explorer on Motorola Q
Jul 1, 2008, 5:53 PM
in the Motorola Q forum

Hi all, had a question. I'm trying to access a webpage from my employers that when I do, it states that I need at least Windows Internet Explorer Version 6.0 on my phone in order to access it, however, my specifications on the phone clearly show I have Internet Explorer version 6.0. What else might be causing that error and what can I do to fix it? Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks!

Cost for accessing the web with Sprint
Jun 26, 2008, 5:55 PM
in the Sprint forum

Just went thru Sprint's website as a non-customer, and was trying to find out how much Sprint charges for just simple web access (say, through a Razr phone, not a smartphone or anything) per month. The website was NO help whatsoever, was wondering if anyone here knew what the cost for that was, and what else is included. Thanks!

V-Card only OPP Bluetooth profile?
Mar 1, 2008, 5:17 PM
in the Sharp Sidekick LX 2007 forum

Was looking at the specs for the phone, and it notes that OPP only works w/a V-Card... what does that mean exactly? Reason I ask, I have a co-worker w/one of these phones that I'm trying to transfer files to (mp3's, etc), and I'm using a Cingular-based LG CU320 to no avail. Any ideas on how this can be done? Thanks!

Questions about Unbranding
Jan 17, 2008, 11:32 PM
in the Sony Ericsson W580 / S500 forum

Hmmm, interesting, been eyeing phones to buy w/my upgrade. Have had an LGCU320, and couldn't be happier, but the Shine is just way too overcosted.... So, I'm reading the chat about "unbranding" the phone, and I'm intrigued. Not aware this type of thing could be done. I've seen the positives listed about this, but what happens "negative" to the phone? Can I get this phone through AT&T and then unbrand it, or do I have to buy it through ...

This is not the most technical question in the world, but it's driving me nuts and I have to ask in the hopes anyone knows... The music that's playing in the background of the VZW ads that sport this phone, who does that & what is it called? Name that tune in 4 notes. MAD thanks to anyone who can help me out with this stupid quesiton...

Uploading pictures from the LG to the web
Jun 15, 2006, 4:07 PM
in the LG CU320 forum

Without any sort of Bluetooth thing to tether to a computer, is there a place I can, say, send a multimedia picture message where I can then access the picture on my phone? Just need to get a picture I took on my phone onto the web, I doubt I'll need to very often, and have no sort of connectivity with my computer... like a Snapfish or something of that ilk is what I'm looking for here. Thanks for any ...

Re: Sad, ignorant Bluetooth question...

Couple more questions, now that I'm thinking about it.... A)This USB thing. Will I need any software on top of it to do basic transfers of mp3 & jpg files from my computer to phone, or will I likely be able to do that on my own? B)My previous phone was a Motorola V551, also with Bluetooth. Can I connect the two, and transfer files that way? If so, how? I've actually got the two phones to recognize each other already, ...

Re: Question???
Mar 16, 2006, 11:23 PM
in the LG CU320 forum

Okay, very preliminary as I've had the phone for maybe an hour. A)The speakerphone is KILLER good for the people on the other end, my wife couldn't tell the difference with it on or off when I called her. It's "ok" for you. Better than my V551 anyway. B)Cingular Video is hella-loud. No complaints here. C)The screen is gorgeous. Period. I'll probably post a review once I'm done playing with it, but it's pleasing me thus far.

in the Techs & Trends forum

Yeah, guess I'll add some more info here now that I know what to focus on. I'm anticipating getting the LG-CU320 tonight. Cingular is obviously my carrier. Not sure if they've blocked bluetooth or not (I know Verizon did, but that's about it). Great info on the headset vs USB adapter. Wasn't even aware that was the case. It would be wired into a desktop computer, sadly don't own a laptop. However, I'm thinking since I'm going to have the holy ...

Sad, ignorant Bluetooth question...
Mar 15, 2006, 3:45 PM
in the Techs & Trends forum

Okay, never utilized Bluetooth on a phone before, however, I'm presented with the fact I'm getting a new phone in 24-48 hours (My Motorola V551 just plain sucks, and is falling apart, so Cingular was kind enough to allow me to upgrade early...) And one of my primary concerns is that I'm able to upload mp3's that I've cut for ringtones into my phone. I did this with my V551 with a data cable I had purchased off of Ebay, ...

Volume getting worse on phone...
Aug 9, 2005, 2:13 PM
in the Motorola V551 / V330 / V547 / V555 / V557 forum

I've had this phone since January, and within the past two weeks, I've noticed that the volume of the incoming caller's voice has gotten significantly worse over a short period of time (where occassionally, I am forced to put them on speaker just to hear them). Is there anything that I can do to improve upon this? I have gone the ultra stupid route and confirmed that the volume is maxed, so it's not something quite that mundane... Also, has ...

Is the fact that I have a v551 impacting this?

Inability to send video messages? (Help)
May 13, 2005, 4:53 PM
in the Motorola V551 / V330 / V547 / V555 / V557 forum

I attempted to send a picture message to my e-mail address today, however, when I go to send it, I first get a question that asks "Connecton to server required. Connect now?" and then after choosing yes, I get an immediate error message that states "Cannot connect. Setup incomplete." Now, I'm able to access the web just fine on my phone, and I have the basic media package that allows for picture messaging and the like. Is there something special ...

Re: screen dimensions
Mar 18, 2005, 5:42 AM
in the Motorola V551 / V330 / V547 / V555 / V557 forum

I believe it's around 400x400. Can't say that's for certain, but using my data cable, I've been transferring pictures in at that rate, and that seems to work just fine. Could probably be fine tuned a bit, but I'm not one to fuss over little details.

Getting games onto your phone.
Feb 3, 2005, 11:50 AM
in the Motorola V551 / V330 / V547 / V555 / V557 forum

I received a disk when I got my mobile phone tools and data cable that has a bunch of jad and jar files, although I have no idea how to get them onto my phone where they can be used. Can anybody offer some assistance on this?

Questions about adding screensavers via data cable.
Feb 3, 2005, 12:59 AM
in the Motorola V551 / V330 / V547 / V555 / V557 forum

First off, you folks have been most helpful thus far. This site rules... Anyway, the screensavers that come standard with the phones, I'm assuming I'll be able to add my own, but do I do those in MPG format and transfer them via Mobile Tools or is there another trick to this? Probably a simple question, but if anybody knows, I would most appreciate a response. Thanks! :)

Basic question w/editing MP3's for phones
Jan 30, 2005, 1:15 AM
in the Motorola V551 / V330 / V547 / V555 / V557 forum

Is there some sort of program that can increase the volume of my MP3's so they would simply play louder? Granted, this would not be directly related to solely mp3 downloads, but Nero just doesn't do the trick. Are there any MP3 editors out there that can increase the overall volume of a file? Any assistance would be appreciated, as the mp3's I currently have on my v551 are pretty muffled... :x

Potential for animated wallpapers?
Jan 11, 2005, 1:16 AM
in the LG VX-6100 forum

Considering the opening wallpaper when you first activate the phone is a rotating picture of random guy surfing, it obviously must be able to be done... however. Has anyone figured out how to add animated wallpaper (or even a way to have a few random pictures cycle quickly round and around) as the background for their phone? Just wondering if it's something that can be done or not...

The only way to change that is to call into Verizon and ask them to. Most you can bump it up to is 8 rings or about 40 seconds.

in the LG VX-6100 forum

Sorry, wanted to clarify something... More or less, I can upload pics right now, but they are more or less "squished" to about 50% of the page, and I'm looking for a way to have the pics take up 100% of the screen. Is there ANY way of doing this? USB Cable direct upload, way of morphing the pics, etc. If anyone has any path of getting full screen pics onto the phone, I'd love to hear it. Thanks!

Re: Extended Network - Roam
Dec 21, 2004, 2:51 AM
in the LG VX-6100 forum

For the record, "Extended Network" basically means that you are roaming, but Verizon has a deal with the carrier, so you don't get charged any roaming fees. So it will say that when it pops up, but you won't be charged, so don't sweat it. :) Main thing to keep in mind is when your phones are on extended network, your features may not be working all the time (Caller ID, Call Waiting, etc.)

Okay, we're going to have to step back a minute here, and help the challegned folk who have no idea how to do something here. I see from other posts that you folks are talking about doing stuff with the phone, i.e. downloading MP3's to your phone and the like. Sounds nifty, but what type of equipment does one need to do such a thing? Standard USB cable? Because I have less than no clue how to go about that... If anyone ...
