Re: No Audiovox in-store
:) I bought the Motorola Razr.
No Audiovox in-store
I returned my Audiovox yesterday and noticed that the former AT&T now Cingular stores didn't even have them on display anymore. As I was returning mine it caught a consumer's eye and he asked the salesman for it. The salesman said he didn't show him that one for a reason...I didn't overhear the rest of the convo.
I asked my salesman if the phone would be made available on Cingular and he said there aren't any plans for that ...
Picture ID & Caller ID - Help Please!
I have stored pictures and phone numbers on my phone as phonebook entries (not on the SIM card).
When I get calls from those numbers, they show up as "unavailable" numbers and the pictures assigned to them don't appear. Does anyone know why?
Thanks in advance.
Re: Audiovox SMT 5600 or the V3?
:) After being certain that getting the V3 on a trial basis would not sway me from the Audiovox...I was wrong. It cast its spell on me and I can't fathom not keeping it.
 Yes, I'll miss the Windows OS and IE on my Audiovox. If I could afford to I'd keep both. But as is, I'm going with the V3 and rumor has it the V3 will have a smartphone version next year anyway.
Re: 5600 Start-up time
Startup takes a while because you have 3 splash screens before you get to the Today screen.
I leave mine on standby and pressing any key brings it out of hybernation immediately - no wait. :D
Re: M-mode incompatiable with Cingular
This is a great question.
I want to switch from AT&T's service to Cingular and try the Motorola Razr V3 for 30 days, but I can only do so by migrating over to Cingular's service. There's no migrating back to AT&T. I'd have to give up my Audiovox and Cingular has no equivalent to it. I hate this. :x
Re: Audiovox SMT 5600 or the V3?
:D I went to a store that has the Razr activated. What a joke!
The Audiovox may not have an attractve clamshell, but 'er uh, it's a much better "functional" phone in my opinion and the opinion of several AT&T/Cingular employees.
I went through a few menus and on the web with the V3. It just doesn't measure up to the Audiovox. I'll keep my Audiovox and when the smartphone Razr comes out next year, I'll get it then.
Re: V3 or Smartphone? Help!
The descision's been made for me.
Cingular said that I can migrate from AT&T to Cingular (which is what I'd have to do to get a Razr), but I cannot migrate back to AT&T. This is fine service-wise, but if I give up my AT&T phone, I cannot get it back b/c Cingular doesn't offer this particular phone.
It looks like I'll be holding on to the smartphone and waiting for the Razr's next version, whenever that happens. In ...
Re: V3 or Smartphone? Help!
Hi White Skinned,
Yes, I have about 6 days left under my 30-day AT&T warranty and the Razr is sold out all over NYC. That's why I am in a panic to get my hand on one so that I do not end up running out of time and paying full price for the Audiovox without giving the Razr a test drive. I'm in my own version of the movie "Speed," LOL!
I am also more confused because ...
Re: V3 or Smartphone? Help!
cgydave and mobilephonejunkie8,
Thank you both for your feedback. Sometimes the in-store salespeople do not have that much time to go over this or are not as knowledgable as some people online who actually own the phone. I really appreciate ya :D
Re: Audiovox SMT 5600 or the V3?
kwbarrett jr,
That's my issue too. I am not impressed with the SMT's design, but I love my Windows Mobile OS.
Re: Audiovox SMT 5600 or the V3?
Temp,
Y'know, I was worried about that. The V3 is a 1st generation. I've already heard a runor right here on Phone Scoop that there may be a smartphone version of the V3 (Razrberry) by mid 2005. I think I'll wait. Thanks :)
Audiovox SMT 5600 or the V3?
:? I haven't had a cellphone since the late 90's, so every phone is cool to me. That said, I have the Audiovox SMT 5600 Smartphone and love the user interface/functions, but have anticipated the Razr.
Problem? I have gotten accustomed to the Windows Mobile interface and have heard that the V3 falls short by comparison. But the V3 is a quad band with a great speakerphone. I am so torn.
What will I lose by passing on a ...

Re: The have arrived in the store
No wonder they're all sold out in New York City. I unfortunately returned to NY from a vacation out of state on Nov. 17th. By then, all of the V3's were SOLD OUT all over NYC. I was/am pissed.
I wish Cingular had taken into account the high buzz around this phone and provided stores with more than 2. :x
Re: Why are we even having a price discussion??
I agree. I hate it when I walk into a store asking about this phone and the salespeople want to direct me to a free or cheap phone. If I asked for the V3, that's what I'm interrested in. Obviously money's not an object. :D
