Verizon LTE sim in this phone?
If I picked up one of these used and popped in my Verizon LTE sim card, I wonder if this phone would work?
Re: 16 to 32
truth be told, I had the iPhone4 and gave it to my wife to switch to the S3 for myself.
Its just funny how they bash Apple, yet supply them with most of their memory chips.
Re: 16 to 32
I have the 16 gb phone, and I popped in a 32gb MicroSDHC card. totalling 48gb
I keep all music and movies I rip to MP4 with handbrake on the MicroSD card.
everything else I leave on the phones internal memory.
Once in a while I copy off old photos and videos to free up space, I shoot a lot of pics and vids and sometimes end up with only 1gb free on the phone.
Still loving my GS3, I'm loving the Samsung ...
Re: Jerky video playback
After reading these posts I double checked my phone
when I play the video I shot yesterday, sometimes the frames would freeze while playing the video back on my phone, I copied the video file onto my laptop and played it on the computer and it played perfectly smooth.
No frame freezes at all.
So I am happy to say the jerky video playback happens only on the phone, the actual video if played on something else plays perfect.
Re: Jerky video playback
720p will give you smoother video,
but also, do you have "image stabilization" turned on?
If so, turn it OFF I found when its on it does exactly what you dont want it to to.
I had video of my pushing my kid on swings at the park and it looked like an earthquake was going on.
Turned off "IS" and it was perfect.
I noticed if you have a lot of background apps running sometimes that causes the video be a little choppy.
Its ...

OtterBox Defender, bought from Amazon.com
Re: BREAKING NEWS! Amazon Selling This Phone for $99!
If your within the 14 day return time, VZW should credit you.
Even if your within 30 days, they should but may try to scum you.
Good for you, its nice to get those credits, more money for more gear, wooo hoo !
Re: short battery life?
In 2010 I had a Motorola DROID, then I got the iPhone4 when Verizon finally carried it, then about a month and half ago I got the Verizon Galaxy Nexus, used off Ebay. I wanted to like that phone but ended up reselling it on Ebay again.
and now I am back on my iphone for a little longer.
I had a 3800mAh battery on the nexus and it made it much thicker, but would last about 18 to 20 hours.
Sometimes ...
Re: so..
Just a nerdy technical fact, not one of the carriers out right now meet the technical spec for 4G,
all the carriers out now have what they're marketing dept has been legally able to call 4G.
The true speed of 4G data as per IEEE
is around 100mbps
But Verizon is the only "4G" carrier with the fastest network right now, but all over them are not technically 4G
they are only 4G because they're marketed that way only.
Personally I am amazed ...
Re: No Spring-assist slider
This is a general opinion of mine to this whole thread.
The original Droid didnt have a spring assisted keyboard slider either.
If you cant get the keyboard open on a Droid 4,
either you left the plastic on it that is on that back of the upper frame from when purchased new, or you have the weakest hands ever.
If you slide open the keyboard about 20 or 30 times will loosen it up a little bit.
Perhaps you would like nice ...
Re: nevermind
I love how the milspec rating
mentions "Solar Radiation"
Yep, the phone will survive a catastrophic solar flare, but the user will be toasty !!
( for an example think of Chronicles of Riddick
or the bridge scene in "The Core" )
Ouchies !
guts from HTC Merge in rugged body
I just did a compare on this site
for the HTC Merge and this phone.
Same processor specs,
but the merge is a world phone,
the Commando is not.
Still its nice.
and 800mhz is pretty good for speed.
I likey dis android phone.
Window Mobile 6.x ??
Ahhh yes. Windows Mobile 6 and 6.5
you will be missed.....
missed like being sick and having pudding a$$.
Windows Phone 7 is going to really give Android and Apple a run for their money.
I used a Samsung Focus for about 2 hours and I loved it.
I've had a Blackberry, have a Droid 1
looking forward to Windows Phone 7 on Verizon in Q1 2011 as my next phone.
And oh yeah, FIRST POST !!! Wooo hoo..
(couldnt resist)
WTF did Samsung do this phone, cheezus christmas !!
Long press the home button.
nothing, do not get the last used apps screen.
BING as the default????
Its supposed to be Google.
WHY GOD WHY did they release an Android phone
that is trying so obviously hard this time
to look like a certain other phone I shall not name.
Yes the screen is awesome, yes samsung makes great hardware, but WTF
TouchWiz instead of the baked in Android abilitie.
TouchWiz in my opinion is a pain in the a$$
I would rather have this phone rooted, with ...
Re: Extended Warranty Replacement
NICE !!!
Enjoy your D2
Re: BATTERY
Yes its safe to charge the battery every night.
or even every other night, if your not using it heavily.
I use mine heavy, daily.
charge every night, never any problems.
Re: suckers!!
Yeah VB is full of doody.
I have had a Droid 1 since Feb 2010
this phone has been awesome the whole time.
The only REAL BIG PROBLEM now is
whether to update to the
DROID X, or Droid 2 when my Early Upgrade date comes.
The big screen is nice, but the physical keyboard has been awesome to have this whole time.
Either way I will be happy as both are
great phones.
Re: I'm not trying incite a riot but...
I can tell you easily what Android offers that
WebOs does not.
A FUTURE....
WebOs exists only on the phones its currently on, and nobody is putting out any flagship hardware with that OS on it anymore.
Which is all a shame, but they had extensive hardware problems on the Pre, and took 1 year too long to get it to market.
And lets face it, nobody wants a Pixi.
Android on the other hand suffers a lot from fragmentation right now.
Motorola overlays BLUR ...
Re: SIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICKKKKKKKK
The browsing on the Torch will be on par with the Droid and iPhone, usable in the real world and fast. Its running a webkit based browser.
So they can achieve a good speed browser with only a 600+ mhz processor.
When your more effiecient, you dont need to make up for it in fast processorts.
Hence the Droid1, it has a underclocked 550mhz processor and a separate video processor.
they offload the graphics to the other chip.
Allowing for efficient cpu speeds, AND ...
Re: VOICE DIAL OVER BLUETOOTH, FINALLY THANK GOD !!! Froyo 2.2
You will be able to store and run most apps
from the SD card in Froyo 2.2.
I have read some people saying the Bluetooth headset wasnt voice dialing with the Froyo update out now on their NexusOne.
If its a plantronics bluetooth headset, do a long press on the button on your headset, then you will hear the bluetooth on the phone ask you to say a command.
Finally ANDROID/Froyo 2.2 has the Voice dial over bluetooth we have all been waiting ...

Thank you cheezus, for giving us voice dial over bootoofs !!!
Re: Looking for a good case!
Otterbox Commuter, got it on Amazon $30 beans.
Its tough and makes the phone easier to hold and the buttons easier to press.
All the other cases out there are just simple plastic shells.
The Otterbox is made from polycarbonate and is tough as balls.
However, you will need to find a bigger holster if your looking to put it on your belt. Otterbox does not sell a belt clip to go with their case.
And unless you have the Seidio case and ...
Uhmm
The crushed glass reference was from the old Jean Claude VanDam movie, Kickboxer.
Just incase any youngins dont get the reference.
DROID's been able to DOES this. But this is great for Blackberry
The Motorola DROID can do this already in the 2.1 firmware update.
But it isnt perfect.
NUANCE doing this for the blackberry is a great thing. NUANCE does the voice recognition for DROID phones, and Blackberry phones.
They know what their doing.
The droids implementation of this feature is more like an experiment, If NUANCE does this right they add a very desirable feature to a very solid platform that is the blackberry.
I had a Storm 9530 before I had my moto droid ...
Re: Well...
Considering the original phone was released for close to 600$ and in 2006
and its 4 years later. Yes, its time to get a new phone already.
4 years in cell phone years is like 75 years in human years.
I'm suprised any first gen iphones are even working still. The battery must be dead 5 minutes after you pull it off the cable.
Now if you had a REAL phone like the Moto DROID,
which although "ugly" as some have put it, ...
OtterBox for the Motorola DROID now available
I just got a reminder email from OtterBox
saying the
"DROID by Motorola Commuter Series Case"
is available, its a nice case.
But I dont think it comes with a belt clip of any kind.
But for $34 its not bad.
Anyone who know who OtterBox is you know they make good cases.
Enjoy.
Re: It doesnt look like it but I can only pray they finally added BT voice command
Im going to sue all of you and take you to court for taking over this thread. and using
my patented subject line for your discussion about apple and HTC.
Your all going to hear from my lawyers....
hmmm donuts !!!
physical keyboard on DROID
This may sound dumb but I noticed the
physical keyboard on the DROID works best when my fingernails are cut, if you have even a little bit of nail, it tends to make you have to poke your finger into the key a little bit.
But again it may just be me.
Its fine, and honestly the on screen landscape keyboard is just ducky, you will not need the physical keyboard to often.
Re: It doesnt look like it but I can only pray they finally added BT voice command
Regardless of the "experience"
Both the phones come from Motorola
and both are running a form of Android.
So my big gripe here is
if HTC had voice command over BT and the
Motorola phones didnt I could see that.
But Motorola put out both of these phones.
And now remember this, the DEVOUR is meant to be a lower cost phone, and they put this in there.
WHereas on the DROID, the "flagship" phone
they didnt put it in there and have not yet put ...
Re: It doesnt look like it but I can only pray they finally added BT voice command
Motorola made the DROID,
Motorola made the DEVOUR
The DEVOUR has this ability.
lets get an ability that's existed since 2003
into this phone already.
I not arguing with anyone else's points here.
Just saying, GIT'R'DONE already.
What is taking them so long.
The phone does everything else but for some reason someone is dragging their heels getting this done already.
If this didnt exist in the DEVOUR I wouldnt be so annoyed that it hasnt been done yet on the DROID.
Thanks
Re: It doesnt look like it but I can only pray they finally added BT voice command
Agree, but when you drive 4 hours a day.
You will need to place calls while driving.
Regardless of whos fault it is, they need to get it done already. The phone for 5 months already. and a feature is missing that has been in phones even non smart phones since 2003.
Plus if you look at a Motorola DEVOUR it has
full voice command over bluetooth, its even running the "Nuance" or "VoiceSignal" software.
I forget which one it is, but its got ...
It doesnt look like it but I can only pray they finally added BT voice command
I wonder if this update, or the next will finally add the voice command ability over bluetooth.
I still love my DROID but it needs this feature.
Plus its state law in a lot of places now, so basically Verizon is making me a criminal everytime I try to call someone while driving.
ahahahah,.. DROID DOES !!!!
Re: I wonder if voice dial over bluetooth is nerfed on this one too.
Does the Voice dial on this phone say
"Powered by Nuance"
Thanks
Re: I wonder if voice dial over bluetooth is nerfed on this one too.
seriously, like you touch ONLY the button on your
bluetooth headset, the phone says back, who do you want to call, and you say the name, and it calls.
meaning at no time do you have to touch the screen? wow, well the Devour is MotoBLUR if im not mistaken, I truly hope this ability comes to the DROID and Nexus soon.
Especially since its the state law in most states now.
Great to hear, thanks for your reply to this post.
Spotted a Motorola DROID looking device in Mass Effect 2
Spotted a Motorola DROID looking device in Mass Effect 2
I was playing the game on disc 2 on my xbox360
and part of the gear attached to a guy , looked exactly like a motorola DROID.
Just thought I would share this with everyone

Drivesafe.ly on Motorola DROID finding
I used to have a blackberry storm 1.
Had Drivesafe working on the BB for a while with no problems. It read aloud all my accounts.
Switched to the MotoDroid about a month ago.
been trying to get DriveSafe to work with my exchange email account, and after emailing their tech support a few times I finally was told.
"DriveSafe.ly works with Android 1.5 and higher,
and currently only supports POP3 and IMAP."
No exchange account support. DARN !!!
Oh well, at least I know ...
Re: ordered it!! mupi
I put pop it into a dedicated card reader for speed reasons, if you leave it in the phone and try to copy a few gigs of music to it, it will be slow, compared to a dedicated card reader, then when you pop it into the phone, it will scan the contents and your good to go.
It doesnt appear to be a class 4 card, possibly just a class 2.
But really thats enough for music and little ...
UPDATE, UK Pre order for 32gb now up
