Incorrect. We have call centers in Alexandria; Bend, Oregon; Enterprise, Alabama; and somewhere in the NE area, but I don't know exactly where or if it is included in the divested area.

Re: Unicel Buyout....?
Jul 9, 2008, 12:16 PM
in the Verizon forum

Let me just clarify here for both of you... The Southern Minnesota market was a recent acquisition for Unicel. First of all, the area that he was talking about has nothing to do with that acquisition. Unicel has controlled the northern half of Minnesota forever, and we have excellent network up there. Second, we have put a lot of money into network in southern Minnesota since we acquired it, and coverage is vastly improved. Verizon's acquisition of ...

I can tell you as someone who is close to this, the contents of the DOJ ruling are nothing new or unexpected. Although Verizon was attempting to hold on to these licenses, I think everyone figured that this would eventually be the outcome. Not only did Verizon agree to divest these markets specifically to AT&T a month or two ago, but the FCC took the unusual step of approving the transfer of those licenses pre-emptively. This will not hurt the ...

Okay, it is Foxconn, which incidentally is the same company that manufactures the iPhone.

As I said, the restocking fee applies when the phone is not in "like new" condition. Over thirty minutes of talk time is considered "not like new". I personally don't agree with that policy, but you have to realize that if we let customers return obvously used phones that aren't resellable, we basically eat it. Anyway, there are quite a few regional carriers left out there, and very few "worldwide" carriers in US. Basically you have T-Mobile, ...

I would really encourage you to just wait and see what happens, and remain optimistic. If you have a nice-looking store and a good sales history to point to, I don't know why Verizon would be in a hurry to close your door. Part of the value of what they are buying is all the points of distribution in our markets, both retail and agent. The consignment issue is definitely something to be prepared for.

First, the only reason you would have to pay a $50 resotcking fee for returning a phone withing 30 days would be if you lost or destroyed packaging, or if the phone was not in "like new" condition. Those details are all plainly disclosed at the point of sale. Second, phone selection is a challenge for any smaller carrier, as many devices are locked in to exclusive deals with the bigger competition. We also face challenges ...

I work in senior management for Unicel, but for obvious reasons I won't say exactly what I do or where. Today's announcement was a pretty big surprise for all of us here. I don't think that anyone expected us to be bought out by a CDMA carrier. Just to clarify a couple of things... first, our GSM markets greatly outnumber our CDMA markets. We only use CDMA in the midwest area, which is most of Minnesota and ...

Re: Upgrading - am I getting the best price?
Aug 20, 2005, 1:31 PM
in the T-Mobile forum

If you have been on a single line plan $39.99 or higher or a family plan $69.99 or higher for at least eleven complete months, then you are definitely eligible for the biggest discount. The RAZR would be $199 after $50 rebate, and the V330 would be $149 after $50 rebate also. Being a current customer has nothing to do with being eligible for rebates. You are just only eligible for them once a year. ...

Re: How many people here have GSM Phones which r not sold by T-Mobile
Aug 11, 2005, 7:07 PM
in the T-Mobile forum

Just to elaborate on that a little bit... On our internal interactive coverage map we can click on a roaming area and it will display what carrier we are roaming on. I have gotten on there just clicking around out of curiosity, and it was difficult to even find ANY areas where it said "Cingular". There were a couple of tiny little areas, but its mostly Dobson and RCC, it seems like.

But of course, those customers always want to believe that Amazon or A1 or whoever just wants to give them a great deal... I talked to someone yesterday about this, and they figured out that A1 was a scam, but they still figured that Amazon.com was a bunch of good guys, just because of the name recognition! People are really gullible.

That's just flat-out wrong in every way. And regarding those deals, hardly anybody ever gets paid those rebates. It's a total scam. You have to wait four months or more to even send for it, and if you make ANY changes on your account they will probably deny it. I'll bet they only pay 10% of those.

You guys are clueless... I work for T-Mobile. We DO NOT have different coverage maps for different plans, unless you are talking about prepaid. We don't ever charge for roaming, either. Anywhere you get service it is included. Right now certain west coast markets have 1000 minutes and unlimited nights and weekends for 39.99 a month. The rest of the country is 45.99 for the same thing. Unlimited M2M is 6.99 extra if ...

I think he was mistaken or you misunderstood. I was at a meeting on Sunday where I actually got to play with the 6101, and the Nokia rep said that they are just getting final network approval. Re: Handset upgrade question
Jul 14, 2005, 8:22 PM
in the T-Mobile forum

If you can call in to customer care and convince them to send you one at a better price, then I can't really blame you. Just remember that with Cingular you are committing for another two years to get that pricing. They can afford to give you a little better deal since they are guaranteeing themselves an extra twelve months of income from you. I know that we have actually been testing a program where certain ...

Re: Handset upgrade question
Jul 14, 2005, 5:55 PM
in the T-Mobile forum

I'm very aware that it costs more to gain a new customer than to keep an existing one... that was my whole point. If we sold every existing customer a RAZR for $99 or whatever, that would no longer be true. In the wireless business, a huge chunk of the money required to gain a customer is handset loss. If we started going more in the hole on upgrades, that would be a terrible business decision. ...

Re: Handset upgrade question
Jul 13, 2005, 8:09 PM
in the T-Mobile forum

Your whole premise here is really skewed. New customer pricing is what it is because we as a company take a calculated loss to gain a new customer. Phones cost more money than you ever pay for them, even when you upgrade early at a partial discount. In this case you are getting the same pricing as a new customer, just partly in a rebate instead of instantly. We do this because we know a ...

Re: V3 video . . . appears to have playback only
Jul 12, 2005, 7:10 PM
in the T-Mobile forum

Actually, yes it will... I was convinced that our V3 wouldn't record video, since the Streamline info specifically stated that it would receive, send, and playback video. But I can confirm today after playing with our store demo that it does indeed record video. It's basically exactly the same as how the V330 records video, which boostlink already gave the steps for. However, the video clips are only about seven seconds long.

A newer promotional offer for the same price, and you don't want to sign the 1 yr agreement? Sorry, it doesn't work like that. We will give you more for the same amount of money, and you in turn agree to stay with us for another twelve months. That doesn't seem unreasonable to me. Renewing your contract now without changing phones will not preclude your ability to buy new ones at a discount at a ...

Re: Moral Dilema....
Jun 15, 2005, 2:58 PM
in the Verizon forum

You might want to be aware that the Verizon retail sales metrics requirements are BRUTAL, and they WILL fire you if you miss any of them a couple of months in a row. I know it used to be that they required 125% data attachment rate, and 3.5 accessories per handset sold. Also, 40% of the rate plans you sell must be above $39.99, or something like that. These numbers may be a little dated, but ...

Re: family plan upgrades
Jun 11, 2005, 8:46 PM
in the T-Mobile forum

That is only half correct. Upgrading the actual rate plan on a family plan will extend the contract on all the lines for one year. Uprading your phone without changing plans will only extend the contract for that line of service. Regardless, neither option will prevent the second person on your plan from taking advantage of the full upgrade discount when she chooses to do so. Contracts and handset upgrade tenure can be and often ...

Re: 800 Mhz
May 31, 2005, 1:19 AM

I have a feeling that it will roll out a little at a time, with an area here and an area there, rather than all of the sudden us having a huge nationwide increase in coverage all at once. The reason is that there are several different companies that we are working to partner with. Two of the mose useful ones will be Dobson and RCC. Also, the agreements will likely be region by region. ...

Re: 800 Mhz
May 26, 2005, 8:42 PM
in the T-Mobile forum

First of all, PLEASE tell me that you aren't actually employed in this business, because that would just be embarrassing. Radio frequency bands have nothing to do with analog vs. digital. It is true that analog used to use primarily 850 Mhz, but that is just because that was the spectrum that the FCC chose to sell licenses for. Many of those rural carriers that used to operate analog networks switched to TDMA (digital) eventually, and ...

Currently, insurance is $3.99 a month for all phones, and the deductible is $35 for any phone as well. However, Asurion (the insurance company that we use) is planning to switch over to the new pricing that you've been reading about. I don't know the date for sure, but apparently they have already been sending letters to current Asurion subscribers notifying them of the price changes. I personally think that if they carry through with this, ...

Re: Insurance
May 18, 2005, 1:48 PM

The new insurance rates are a complete joke. I would be willing to bet money that this either never happens, or gets changed immediately if it does. Has anybody seen which phones are considered "mid-tier" according to Asurion? I beleive the Nokia 6800 is on the list, as well as the Samsung X475. Anybody who has been on service more than a month can replace their X475 for $99 currently, and Asurion expects their customers ...

What is wrong with our customer care reps lately?
May 17, 2005, 3:23 PM
in the T-Mobile forum

I'm getting a little frustrated. It doesn't seem like any of them comprehend the difference between and indirect dealer and a corporate store sales employee. They constantly refer to me as a "dealer" on the phone with them, and cop an attitude until I can get it through their heads "Hey, listen! I work for T-Mobile just like you do!" Case in point: Today I called in to double check on upgrade eligibility for a ...

Re: Why are you thinking about switching?
May 17, 2005, 3:05 PM
in the T-Mobile forum

Actually, T-Mobile's billing system DOESN'T work that way. The only thing more than the normal bill is the activation fee. And she already said that our service was great in her area. Not to mention that where I live, the Cingular coverage may LOOK good, but it unfortunately doesn't allow you to hold a call for more than two minutes without dropping. That is, of course, assuming that you can get the call to connect ...

Re: Inventory Problem!!!!!!!

Just to follow up... the Motorola C650 IS discontinued also. It's frustrating for us also, because we have to leave our disply models of those phones out until we get something else so that we don't have holes on the wall.
