It's the American version of the Desire HD
Eric, You compared it to everything but what it actually is. The Desire HD for the USA. I wish they released it with T-Mobile bands. I already have the Desire HD, and don't mind only having 2G, but I would sell it in a second for a T-Mo version for the USA!

The browser has an option to view sites in pc mode which in turn tells hulu that it is not a mobile device, so you can watch all the video you want.

I believe it is the phone. I tried it too since you can get to the youtube.com site, but it won't play anything. I think you need a HTML browser with java, and the Alias 2 only has a WAP browser for general mobile sites.

I have no problem with the power button. It actually will only turn the phone off when the phone is flipped open. I pressed it, and held it in for about 30 seconds, and it never turned off, but flipped open it turned off when I pressed it for about 3 seconds, so there is no chance of it turning off in your pocket. Front display tricks.
I have read a couple of reviews where the person is upset that they need to flip the phone open to see what time it is, but you can actually trigger the front display to turn on by simple holding any of the side buttons in for about 2 seconds. Call quality
I have my Alias 2 for a week now, and where I live I get only two to three bars also, but my experience with call quality is much different. It does it for me to, and the only thing I can think of to do is tap one of the keys that is on the side of the phone to light it back up. I do it just to see the display too since that goes black too, and I like to glance at the signal streangth once and a while.

Voice call quality. Calls cutting out?
I recently switched from Sprint to Verizon, and noticed something with the call quality. First off the clarity is better, but I noticed the sound seems to only be there when someone is talking.
