market locations?
any info on where these markets are located?
Re: does that mean
oops I meant 'custom kernel' not ROM
does that mean
does that mean without the IMS-based client, you can't make phone calls over LTE on T-Mobile? Currently the wifi-calling client isn't a downloadable app because it requires a custom ROM and is only available on stock T-Mobile ROMS. Assuming that will continue to be the case, does this mean if I buy a future LTE 'nexus' phone or flash a different ROM on my LTE T-Mobile phone that I'm SOL if I wanna make calls over LTE?
roaming agreement
When does the 7 year UMTS roaming agreement begin?
Re: Google asks for permission
yes i do. why?
Re: Knew it
What are you talking about? all you have to do is uncheck a box...
Google asks for permission
Every android phone when you first set it up asks you for permission to share location data anonymously with Google. Every android user has the ability to opt-out of sharing their location data with Google when setting up their phone. Google hasn't been hiding anything, they have been upfront about it the whole time. Also if any user has Google latitude enabled, your location data is gathered to set up your location history.

Re: I'm sure San Fran will block that from happening...
why would they do that? the city of san francisco hired motorola. why would the city block motorola from doing the job the city hired them for?
Re: android??
where on the website does it say that? Bank of America and Wells Fargo seem to think Android is secure enough.
android??
when are they gonna make an android app??
browser speed comparison
how would you compare the browser speed of the iphone 4 with a nexus one running 2.2?
browser speed comparison
is droid x's browser faster than the evo 4g or nexus one with 2.2?
Re: The big 4
at&t doesn't have an hspa+ network yet, they are only planning to have a 14.4mpbs network compared to t-mobile's 21mpbs, and at&t is not claiming '4G speeds' like t-mobile.
great article!
btw, the hspa+ router video is set to private :(
backflip update is planned for Q3 not Q2
check the motorola webpage.
Re: Youtube High Quality
all android phones (to my knowledge) show videos in 'high quality' when connected to wifi. not all phones though have the option to toggle between low and high quality while on 3g though, like the droid.
BUT, I think i saw they mentioned in one of the videos that the youtube HQ app on the EVO 4g is actually different because it is able to play the videos in HD quality, which is better than the 'high quality' playback on ...
is the $20 a month mandatory?
do you have to purchase $20 a month plan? What if you don't want unlimited calls/data and just want to increase signal in your home? can you purchase the microcell w/o the plan?
Re: "With Google"?
I think now it just means that Google worked with them and had a hand in designing the phone/software. Basically the phone has a stamp of Google's approval; and also access to all of Google's Apps and the Market.
missing feature?
I noticed that the iphone version does not have the 'downloads' button. does that mean you cannot download files from opera mini on iphone? or that it is just missing a download manager to keep track of them all?
Re: If I remember correctly,
T-Mobile was going to start charge customers who DIDN'T sign up for paperless billing, not the other way around.
Re: 2MP camera!?!?
how was the 8520 long anticipated? this is an entry level blackberry for t-mobile's lineup, replacing the old blackberry 8320. This is going to be sold by walmart for only $48 pretty soon, supposed to be a cheaper option in order to attract more people to blackberry devices...the 8900 has 3.2MP camera which has been on t-mobile's lineup for a while now and is a better phone than this. And t-mobile's 3g blackberry aka 'driftwood' is still on its ...
Re: 3G?
the 8520 is an entry level device in the blackberry lineup which replaces the old 8320 curve. the first blackberry with t-mobile 3g is still on its way, codenamed 'driftwood', this is a different device.
Re: typo? 29 markets?
t-mobile has decided to count certain suburbs as markets, like at&t does.
Re: 92 markets is a Marketing Gimmick - -- It really new
its good that they did, because it puts them on a level ground with the other companies like at&t that also counts suburbs as markets
Re: GO T-MOBILE, HTC, GOOGLE!!!
its been confirmed on engadgetmobile (http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2008/09/23/con firmed-t-mobile-g1-has-no-3-5mm-headphone-jac k/) that there is no headphone jack, only the HTC proprietary ExtUSB connector, meaning you'll need custom headphones or an adapter to plug in your own.
Re: Amazon mp3 store tn be pre loaded on the G1. . .that's cool.
i use opera mini exclusively as well, the reason you can't test your internet connection is because what is tested when you go to a bandwidth test website on opera mini is the speed between opera mini's servers, not your internet connection, because opera mini's server does all the rendering work and all it does is sent a type of image to your phone. i think why the times are always screwed up on forums and places like facebook ...
Re: Amazon mp3 store tn be pre loaded on the G1. . .that's cool.
you can't use opera mini to test connection speeds on a phone since it uses a proxy. you would have to use the phone's native browser
Re: why dont they work on there.....
...you dont know what you are talking about. Their roaming agreements never disappeared, choosing Suncom over AT&T for roaming doesn't even make sense since Suncom only has a network in the Carolina's and Puerto Rico. GSM networks like T-Mobile and AT&T don't have "in-network" roaming set up like CDMA networks such as Sprint and Verizon do. GSM network set up their roaming agreements on a tower by tower basis. T-Mobile only has roaming agreements where there is no T-Mobile ...
Re: uhhh, WHICH version of the 8800 series???????????
wow.. you should really think about actually taking a look at the different phones before saying stupid things and making yourself look like a dumbass.
Re: Hurray..
what's the difference? Just put in your t-mobile SIM card, its the same network... its only called roaming when you're roaming on someone else's network, not when you are using your own. The only thing that will change if T-Mobile carries it is the price of the phone; thats what I care about.
