Nokia 6126 / 6131 / 6133

Has anyone had any experience using this phone (any version) with a Mac computer: syncing the usual contacts and calendar info, but also things like photos and music, either on to the phone's internal memory or the removable memory card? Are we talking easy, difficult, requires a hack and an IT degree, or impossible? Since the Nokia PC Suite is Windows only, what will my being Mac only keep me from being able to do/use/access? (And, no, I don't have an Intel Mac with Boot Camp or Parallels.) Thanks for any advice before I buy. I've been holding out for this phone for the longest time.

Well today is the day the Nokia 6133 is supposed to be available in T-Mobile retail stores. I hope they are right. I stopped in 3 different stores in Maryland last week and nobody knew anything about the phone yet or if & when they were getting it. Even as recently as this past Saturday, one store still had no info. T-Mobile customer service responded yesterday to an email I sent them with this:

"With the information that I can see in my system it shows that the Nokia 6133 will be available through all retail channels by Monday September 18th. Unfortunately I do not know exactly when each T-Mobile retail store will be receiving stock of this brand new device. However it does say that it will available through all of our retail stores by...

I got a 6131 from Ebay and after only 2 weeks, and me being very careful with it, the rubbery black paint is coming off and chipping.

Where can I get ring tones to my 6131 when I use Cingular?? Cingular’s site doesn’t work as they don't have the phone. And the same goes for other sites to ☹️

Ok, so it's out, it's not out...one site says this, the other says that...the big question that I have is, why is a phone that has so much publicity and advertising behind it virtually unheard of by the companies involved. I have spoken with representatives at stores (both cingular and third party), I have called Nokia customer service, I have called Cingular customer care, and Cingular sales. No one knows about this phone, and if they do, it's very little. But then you look at all the hype that's been around it. The cingular store in my hometown has had it on their pricelist since June, and have had merchandising for it since May. And they continue to recieve merchandising for it. Although still hoping that this will *magically* turn up via Cingular sometime soon, wanted to get a jump on other possible phones to consider.

I went back to look at the 6102i but not really thrilled because of the earpiece/volume issue. If I jump brands my next thought was Motorola but even after reading a few threads in that forum I can't get a sense of the brand.

Suggestions for other phones?

Trying to compare the two models, but can't seem to find a clear description of the difference between them. I'm just mainly using the phone for call purposes. Also using Cingular service. Any suggestions/advice?

How exactly can this phone be canceled by any carrier, Cingular included, if Nokia has not released the phone (per the nokiausa.com website and via phone)?

Not trying to start something but.... right after it was announced that cingular had cancelled the 6126, mobiledia's web site removed the phone from the upcoming page for cingular phones. Now its back, .....hmmmm.

Does anyone know if the MP3 player on the 6131 is compatible with iTunes?

I'm not asking if the 6131 comes with itunes software...what I need to know is that if you use itunes on your computer as your choice of player, will the 6131 accept those songs on its player?
or do the itunes songs somehow need to be converted to some other format?

I got tired on wating on Cingular. I ordered the 6131 from TigerDirect. $303 delivered to my door.

My inital impressions is that it did not feel "consistant".. a bit light - but once youp put the battery in - it gains weight and feel much better.

The screen is indeed amazing. Camere is "so-so" at best. Bur then again i hope this would not be your primary camara for family vacations. Its great for taking pictures of your friends while they are doing silly stuff and emailing them later.

The key pad feels a tad plasticy - but the button layout, size and feel are excelent. The silver bezel around the keys feel cheap. Minor quibble

The flap opens with a "click" when opne manualy - but smoothly when the button is used.

This phone has been officially terminated for launch on Cingular. Apparently there were software issues that Nokia couldn't work out. But I have heard a rumor that Nokia is pitching a black version of the 8801 to Cingular.... stay tuned...
